Sony FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS Review

The Sony FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS ($1,499.99) is a telephoto zoom lens for Sony's full-frame mirrorless camera system. A 70-200mm zoom is the go-to lens of many an event shooter, and this is a great one in terms of sharpness, but it does show some distortion through its range and it doesn't open up to f/2.8, which is a necessity for pros. But it also doesn't carry the $3,000 price tag that the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 ($2,499.00 at Amazon)(Opens in a new window) for Alpha SLRs does. It's a solid performer, and a good option if you can live with an f/4 aperture, but some distortion keeps it from earning an even higher rating and our Editors' Choice award. The 70-200mm works with full-frame bodies like the Alpha 7R ($1,654.95 at Amazon)(Opens in a new window) , but can also be used with APS-C bodies like the Alpha 6000 ($549.99 at Dell Technologies)(Opens in a new window) . When paired with a camera with a smaller sensor, its field of view is cropped, matching that of a 105-300mm zoom on a f...

The Sony FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS is a sharp zoom lens for Sony's full-frame mirrorless system, although it doesn't deliver the f/2.8 aperture that many photographers desire.

Image stabilization; Very sharp; Full-frame coverage; Includes hood and tripod collar

Some distortion; Large; Not an f/2.8 zoom

The Sony Zeiss 16-35mm Vario-Tessar f/4 is the ultimate travel lens for photographers looking to shoot landscapes and other compositions that are best suited for a wide angle perspectives. The build quality and performance are top notch, and the image quality is on the same level.

Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens - Brand New review

In the first six months following the release of the Sony A7 and A7r, many users were complaining about the lack of native lenses for the system. One year and three months later, I must praise Sony for the effort it has put into releasing more lenses for the system.

Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens - Brand New review

The Carl-Zeiss Vario Tessar T* FE 16-35mm f/4 OSS ZA may not be able to convince completely but we actually like it quite a bit. It is capable of delivering sharp results at medium apertures.

Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 isn’t a huge upgrade on the iPhone 13, yet it still is a great phone with a top camera, good battery life and all the iOS benefits.

Clever safety features, Very good battery life, Reliable camera, Fun colours, You’ve got an ageing iPhone: If you’re on an iPhone 11 or older, then the changes here will make a notable difference.

Stuck on a 60Hz display, Minimal differences to the iPhone 13, You’ve got an iPhone 13: The changes from Apple’s previous phone aren’t enough to warrant an upgrade this year.

Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens - Brand New review

Apple's latest non-Pro iPhone is superb - it's just that it's strikingly similar to last year's effort.

Still an incredible smartphone, Brilliant battery life gets a bit better, Excellent camera system gets a bit better

Last year’s Pro hardware, Wireless charging slow by modern standards, No USB-C; it’s now well overdue

Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens - Brand New review

More like an iPhone 13S. The generational upgrades for the iPhone 14 are limited to a few subtle changes. At the same time, however, the base price climbs to 800 USD, while the only true innovation happens inside the iPhone 14 Pro series.

excellent OLED display, dust- and waterproof, fast Wi-Fi, wide range of supported frequencies, great camera, very fast performance, good battery life

display limited to 60 Hz, charging rate limited to 20 watts, no macro lens, wide notch
