The Sony Ericsson W980i is a medium clamshell mobile phone that weighs about 100 grams. The W980i is not just a fashion phone but a Walkman branded music phone that could spice up your life with music while enjoying its mobile capabilities. It comes in a black glossy finish with 8GB internal memory.
Pros:
- The music-phone market is more competitive than an American Little Miss beauty pageant, so it's going to need something special to stand out
- The W980i has a few things, starting with its compact clamshell which belies the fact it can stomach 2,000 MP3s.
Cons:
- The W980i's fingerprint-loving mirrored finish and overly plastic shell doesn't scream high-end, while the lack of integrated 3.5mm headphone jack is annoying
- The built-in FM transmitter is a good idea, but when we streamed tunes to a car stereo the sound quality was definitely compromised

Review of Sony Ericsson's W980 flip music phone
The Sony Ericsson W980 Walkman is a very slick looking, music oriented flip phone. It has a respectable 8GB of built-in storage, and features the very nice Sony Walkman music player application.

W980 -First impressions
I opted for the W980 instead of my ageing P990 as I wanted a smaller device and handwriting recognition wasn't a big deal for me. The handset is light and button feel/response is excellent.

Wow wow I am the first review to review this phone. What's there to say other than it has a lot of features but can't be compared to the N Series because they are much better, also it looks kind of ugly.

Fantastic piece of gadgetry that puts music playback firmly at the forefront
Pros:
- Stunning design
- excellent sound quality
- FM radio & transmitter
- 8GB of memory
Cons:
- Clunky controls
- sluggish menu
- proprietary headphone jack
- no GPS

Shake it, flick it and listen to the music hardly seems like an appropriate introduction to a mobile phone but this is a Walkman phone

I would like to say it was some retro 80s throwback look by Sony Ericsson trying to represent the old brick phones of the day but its really not. It's a smart, attractive, phone with a good camera and a massive memory. But its just too big. People don't want phones that big.
