Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55 Review

3.6
Pros: Easy to use, Manual exposure mode, Very good feature set
Cons: Slow shot-to-shot, Pricey, Battery life could be better
Verdict: In my opinion, the H55 is a little pricey, but I liked it and I had fun shooting with it. Overall, the H55 did a good job for me and with the exception of its abysmal shot-to-shot times I have no major complaints about the camera.

Verdict: As the travel zoom marketplace has expanded, the technology has advanced. One of the most noticeable effects of the increased competition in this sector is the increased sophistication of the products, especially as regards the angle of view covered by the lenses.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55 compact camera

4.0
Pros: Capable, well-constructed and fairly priced addition to the ranks of big zoom, high resolution models, good edge to edge sharpness at maximum 25mm wide angle
Cons: Fails to outshine the immediate competition
Verdict: For those looking for the one easy-to-use point-and-shoot compact that (almost) does it all, the DSC-H55 from Sony might just fit the bill. The headline spec is impressive: 14.1-megapixels effective resolution, a 10x optical zoom stretching from 25-250mm in 35mm terms, 3-inch LCD screen, plus 720p...

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H55 review

3.0
Verdict: The H55 costs a little less than most ultra-zoom cameras, but while its 3in screen and 720p video mode are right up there with pricier models, in other ways it feels like a budget model. There's no HDMI output, and the 10x zoom range is smaller than most.

Sony H55 Hands-On Review

Verdict: The Sony H55 is a 14.1MP point and shoot camera with a 10x optical zoom, which covers an equivalent range of 25-250mm on a 35mm format camera. It retails for $249 and is a sort-of middle-of-the-road point and shoot.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55

Pros: iAuto mode for camera-selected scene modes, Smile Shutter, Sweep Panorama, 10x optically stabilized zoom in a small package, Zoom available while recording video, 25mm wide-angle lens, Good corner sharpness, No geometric distortion to speak of, Very little chromatic aberration, Fast shutter lag,
Cons: Overaggressive anti-noise processing affects all images regardless of ISO sensitivity, Slow shot-to-shot cycle time, Slow flash recharge, Panoramas are very soft, Soft video with noticeable image noise, Fairly large maximum print size, but the camera more often selects higher ISOs, limiting the size
Verdict: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55 digital camera is a 14.1-megapixel camera with a 10x optical zoom lens. The Sony H55's lens carries the same Sony G branding as the company's digital SLR lenses, an indication of its confidence in the lens's optical performance.

Great camera for the money!

5.0
Verdict: I'm not a camera professional but for an amateur like myself this camera is great. The pictures are gorgeous and the camera itself is easy to use. I'm still trying to figure out how to take good pictures at night but I'll keep fiddling with it. Can't wait to use this on vacation in Jamaica!

"Makes it a challenge to take bad photos"

5.0
Pros: Simple. So, so simple
Cons: Doesn't remind you to take photos
Verdict: Technologically speaking I am a semi-troglodyte. That is to say I have little understanding of megapixels or gigabytes except that the bigger the number, the better. Pros: Easy to use and understand interface. Great optical zoom for a point and shoot. Auto-mode does great shots for people that don't like to mess with settings. Easy panoramas, big and bright screen
Cons: Grainy in low light, panoramas are low quality and grainy, only useful for online pictures not prints
Verdict: Not bad considering its a point and shoot. This camera has easy menus and a good auto mode. If you just need a camera that's easy to use/simple, This is one I recommend.

Verdict: Fast review. I often post a review of a camera after I initially try it out, and then come back and make any corrections. Now a day later I have a more realistic opinion. This has allot of noise. Its just marginally better then their w series or marginally worse, I think its worse.
