Sony Alpha A77
Launched earlier this year, the Sony A77 is the flagship model in Sony's Single Lens Translucent (SLT) range. SLT cameras differ from traditional DSLRs in that the internal mirror is fixed in place rather than being hinged.
Pros:
- Fastest continuous shooting speed in its class
- Excellent image quality
- Generous range of HD movie recording options
- Lots of useful features and customisation options
- EVF is the best we've yet seen
Cons:
- EVF still not as good as a traditional viewfinder

Sony Alpha SLT-A77
Sony's SLT-A77 has to be one of the most hotly-anticipated cameras of recent years. Since the Alpha A700 was pulled from production there's been something of a gap in the Alpha lineup – a gap that the A77 looks to fill.
Pros:
- Super-fast burst mode
- great movie mode
- OLED viewfinder the best electronic viewfinder to date
- weather-sealed body
- competitive price
Cons:
- Electronic viewfinder still suffers some lag
- poor battery life
- 24.3MP sensor doesn't cut it at higher ISO settings

Sony Alpha 77 SLT extended review
The Sony SLT-Alpha 77 is a very serious piece of gear but it took me a while to enjoy it. I had four weeks with the review camera to form an opinion but it wasn't until well into the fourth week that it all started coming together.
Pros:
- Focusing options
- Shutter response
- 10 frames per second
- Articulated viewfinder
- EVF and good looking video
Cons:
- Slow camera response to all inputs except shutter button
- Exposure information is substandard in live-view
- Poor raw file integration and support
- Complicated and unintuitive manual and menu system

Sony A77 Review
Coming from a Nikon DSLR background, I did not know what to expect from the newly released Sony SLT-A77 camera. Its impressive performance characteristics, high resolution and bundled features were the reason why I decided to give Sony a try.
