Loved the camera, but not for me
I finally got an NEX-7; however, I turned it a few days later. The camera is overall amazing, and one can tell Sony gathered feedback from pro photographers and implemented their input into the NEX-7.
Pros:
- Amazing pictures with vivid colors
- tri-button layout for manual photography
- RAW
- modern sleek design
- best sensor in its class
Cons:
- Lack of lenses
- not the best auto-focus in its class
- no touch screen
- art filters don't work in RAW
- the video record button can be clicked by accident several times a day

Despite the occasional shortfall, the NEX-7 is a very pleasant camera to use, especially when you've customised it to your particular way of shooting. The built-in OLED viewfinder is a real bonus, providing a bright, clear view, and having a hotshoe and input for an external microphone both add to...

Sony Alpha NEX-7
The Sony NEX-7 is the flagship model in Sony's NEX compact system camera (CSC) range that also includes the NEX-5N, NEX-C3, along with the original NEX-5 and NEX-3. More than any Sony CSC to date though, the NEX-7 is aimed squarely at serious photography enthusiasts.

- 1080p60/50 movie mode
- PASM modes for movie shooting
- Continuous AF in movie mode

- Movie button easy to accidentally press
- AF struggles in poor light

Sony Alpha NEX-7
With a lot to like and just a little to dislike, the Sony Alpha NEX-7 comes up a winner, albeit an expensive one.
Pros:
- The Sony Alpha NEX-7 delivers excellent raw photo and solid video quality in a package that's beautifully and functionally designed
- yet relatively compact.
Cons:
- As with many competing products
- the camera's JPEG algorithms need some optimization
- some aspects of operation feel a little laggy
- and it's missing some useful features

Sony NEX-7 review
The lower-end NEX cameras are excellent, but they're designed for a user wanting something between the simple point-and-shoot and the enormous and complex DSLR. The NEX-7 isn't such a compromise: it's not quite in DSLR territory without more manual control, but it's probably close enough for most...
Pros:
- Excellent pictures and video
- Fast performance
- Very easy to use
Cons:
- Still doesn't have DSLR-level manual control
- OLED viewfinder is mediocre
- Lens ecosystem isn't as good as Nikon or Canon

Sony NEX-7 review
The next step in Sony's evolution of its NEX interchangeable-lens-but-no-bulky-internal-mirror camera system is technically brilliant: an amazingly detailed and clean image sensor shoehorned into a reasonably compact camera body that's incredibly well built and full of features (an excellent...

Sony NEX-7 review
The 24.3 megapixel, 1920x1080 video shooting, APS-C sensor-incorporating Sony NEX-7 is the priciest interchangeable lens compact to date. Luckily for Sony then it's arguably the best, with a performance that should satisfy the semi pro.
Pros:
- Packed with features
- Adjustable screen
- Electronic OLED viewfinder
Cons:
- Expensive
- Bulkier than rivals
- No in-body image stabilisation
