Sony NEX-7 Review
The NEX-7 definitely shook up the market when it was first released, thanks to its rich feature set, small form factor, unique design / ergonomics and a very high resolution 24 MP sensor that had no competitor in the mirrorless market.

Sony Alpha NEX-7
Sony has taken the 23.5 x 15.6 mm 24.3-megapixel Exmor sensor it used in the Alpha SLT-A77 and installed it in a compact camera body to produce the NEX 7. It has also built a high-resolution, 1.3 cm XGA OLED electronic viewfinder into the new camera body, along with a proprietary hot shoe that...

- You require a compact but sophisticated
- large-sensor interchangeable-lens camera with PASM shooting modes plus support for raw file capture and Full HD video recording
- You want an optical viewfinder and built-in flash
- You require quicker access to key camera settings than most mirrorless cameras
Cons:
- You require a pocketable camera (it's only pocketable without a lens)
- You're a point-and-press snapshooter

Sony NEX-7 review
Just as many thought the race to squeeze more pixels onto camera sensors had ended, Sony announced a new flagship model for its NEX line of mirrorless, interchangeable lens cameras in August 2011, with a 24.3Mp rear-illuminated CMOS sensor.

Sony NEX-7
Compact system cameras (CSC) have developed over the years and are now as much a part of the photographic tapestry as their DSLR cousins. It was only a matter of time before a high-end model would hit the shelves, and it's Sony's NEX-7 that takes that title.
Pros:
- Great OLED viewfinder
- decent image quality at high resolution
Cons:
- Low-light focusing is poor
- some layout issues
- need more pro lenses in range

The NEX-7 packs an awful lot of features into its small body, including an excellent 24 MP APS-C sensor and large high-resolution electronic viewfinder. Its three-dial interface and extensive customizability makes for excellent handling, although its default setup leaves something to be desired.

- Three dial interface offers extensive fingertip control
- Superb build quality
- Excellent 2.4 million-dot OLED EVF in compact
- slimline body
- 920K dot tilting rear screen
- Very high-resolution 24MP CMOS sensor with impressive high-ISO performance
- Exceptionally 'deep' feature set including Auto HDR...
Cons:
- Out-of-camera JPEGs don't show off the 24MP sensor to its best extent
- Auto ISO limited to maximum of 1600
- Top-plate dials indistinguishable by touch (most problematic when using EVF
- Mystifying default control setup ( e.g .

Sony NEX-7
All the usual NEX traits: outstanding image and video quality, lethargic autofocus, iffy focus from the kit lens. Sumptuous ergonomics only just help it to justify the high price
