[REVIEW-SONY alphaNEX-7 compact system camera]
This is the top camera in the Sony compact system NEX range. It has the world-beating 24.3 megapixel APS-C sensor – higher resolution than any other CSC and matched only by the a77 DSLR. The 2.4m dot OLED electronic viewfinder is built in.

Sony NEX-7 digital camera review
"Hey Vic, how would you like to test a Sony NEX-7 for the weekend?" A full weekend with one of the most anticipated cameras of the ye
Pros:
- Output from the 24 MP sensor is terrific
- High ISO shots are very usable, AF generally fast, shutter lag is practically nonexistent, Form factor, TriNavi knobs and overall build quality are topnotch, Video quality is excellent.
Cons:
- Accessing some functions / modes requires a bit of button pushing and menu digging
- EVF is very usable … but I still preferred using the LCD
- Not as many lens and accessory choices as an SLR system
- Light weight becomes a disadvantage when shooting handheld video

Review: Sony NEX-7 Digital Camera
($ 1200) is easily the epitome of how far mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras have gone. This is a prosumer-oriented compact APS-C sensor camera that has a 24 megapixel sensor and 2.4M dot OLED electronic viewfinder into its magnesium alloy body and yet still finds room for a pop-up flash and...

Sony NEX-7
The Sony NEX-7's rectangular, sharp-edged body, chunky rubberised hand-grip and large APS-C metal lens mount combine to create a futuristic camera that's very different in style to the likes of the Olympus PEN and Panasonic GX-series.

Sony Alpha NEX-7
Handheld Twilight and Auto High Dynamic Range combine several different exposures to create a better-exposed shot in challenging light. Like the rival Olympus OM-D E-M5, the Sony can shoot in 3D.
Pros:
- Big-camera image quality in a small package
- Exceptionally efficient control layout
- Best-in-class panorama and HDR features
Cons:
- Disappointing lens selection
- Video mode can overheat the camera
- Not weather-sealed

Pros:
- Exceptional quality
- small
- light weight and revolutionary
Cons:
- Menu system

They must be putting something in the water at Sony's camera design bureau because right now the company is really on a roll. Suddenly the D-SLR range looks hugely competitive – courtesy of the SLT-A35, A65 and the brilliant A77 – and over in the compact system camera (CSC) camp things appear...

Sony NEX-7
Now comes the Sony NEX-7; the camera many of us wish had shipped first, instead of the NEX-5. The NEX-7 is a NEX body designed from the ground up for the enthusiast photographer. We understand Sony's deciding to wait on the NEX-7, though, until they could ship it with the incredible 24.3 megapixel...
