Sony Alpha NEX-7
The Sony NEX-7 is the flagship model in Sony's NEX compact system camera (CSC) range that also includes the NEX-5N, NEX-C3, along with the original NEX-5 and NEX-3. More than any Sony CSC to date though, the NEX-7 is aimed squarely at serious photography enthusiasts.
Pros:
- Big
- bright ultra high resolution EVF
- 10fps burst mode
- 1080p60/50 movie mode
- PASM modes for movie shooting
- Continuous AF in movie mode
Cons:
- Bracketing limited to +/-0.3 or +/-0.7EV
- Poor menu layout and organisation
- Movie button easy to accidentally press
- AF struggles in poor light
- Limited selection of native E-mount lenses

Sony NEX-7 review
The NEX7's design is an interesting mix: we're keen on the variety of controls, yet the ongoing lack of a mode dial and awkward placement of some controls does let the overall design down.

Sony NEX-7 review
In the middle ground between DSLRs and point-and-shoot lies a vast plain filled with all manner of tweener cameras, in all variants of shape, size, price, and quality. Until now, no one has nailed the whole package, but so far the smartest middle ground - smaller body and price, but without losing...
Pros:
- Excellent pictures and video
- Fast performance
- Very easy to use
Cons:
- Still doesn't have DSLR-level manual control
- OLED viewfinder is mediocre
- Lens ecosystem isn't as good as Nikon or Canon

Great camera!
I still fun of Nikon, but have mentioned that last year I more and more often change my Nikon D700/D3/D3X/D3S to Sony N5/C3. Main reason - compact size and weight of NEX system and very good quality of pictures. And now I have bought N7 and decided that will not buy D4 or D800.

Sony Alpha NEX-7 Review
Without doubt, the 24.3-megapixel NEX-7 is one of the most lusted after cameras in years. It sold for $1,000 over list on eBay when it initially came out, but now has settled down to more realistic levels. That said, forget any thought of a discount.
Pros:
- Outstanding stills
- Excellent noise-handling characteristics
- Attractive
- compact design
- Sharp
- bright 3-inch LCD display
- Ample lens options
Cons:
- Expensive, GUI has a definite learning curve, No built-in IS
- requires lens with OIS

Sony has been a little slow to bring out lenses which can stand up to the quality of the sensor in this camera. But with good glass from any manufacture via adapters I have managed to get some of the best images I have ever taken. I changed over from a Canon 5D mark II and prime lenses. Apart...

Sony NEX-7 review
We find out whether the Sony NEX-7 is just another high-resolution camera or whether it's the advanced compact system camera photographers have been waiting for

I remember when the NEX series first came out and everyone was commenting on what an ugly camera it was and now it's a very popular series. I liked the looks of it then and now as well. The grip is a huge advantage and makes the camera very easy to hold.
Pros:
- Great IQ, low noise at high ISOs, better build quality
- Beautiful EVF
- Thumb wheels for manual shooting
- Sony hot shoe for Sony flashes, tilting screen, button lay out for easy shooting, faster auto focus and those nice Sony warm colors
Cons:
- low battery life
- no touch screen
- no off camera flash mode and complicated menu
- Also I wish it had a built in ND grad.
