Sony NEX-7 camera
In May, 2012 I received the Sony NEX-7 camera as a graduation gift. I absolutely love it! The frame is slightly bigger than the NEX-5 but the features more than make up for it.

Sony Alpha NEX-7
To draw a conclusion: Sony's Alpha NEX-7 is a camera that does a lot of good things. And it has few drawbacks. Advanced photographers will like it.

The problem isn't the camera...
As the title of my review states, the problem isn't the camera itself, which is a tight and innovative piece of equipment with one of the best APS-C sensors to date. The compact size, image quality, and ease of use (once you get used to the radical design) is among the best of any camera made.

Sony Alpha NEX-7
A delight to use with outstanding photo and video quality – and a price to match

Despite the occasional shortfall, the NEX-7 is a very pleasant camera to use, especially when you've customised it to your particular way of shooting. Sony NEX-7
Just as many thought the race to squeeze more pixels onto camera sensors had ended, Sony announced a new flagship model for its NEX line of mirrorless, interchangeable lens cameras in August 2011, with a 24.3Mp rear-illuminated CMOS sensor.
Pros:
- Excellent image quality
- Very good dynamic range
- Intuitive control layout
- OLED electronic viewfinder
Cons:
- AF struggles in low light
- Limited range of E-mount lenses available
- Setting up customisable controls may take a while to get exactly right

Sony NEX-7 review
The NEX-7 ticks some very big boxes. It's got the electronic viewfinder department wrapped up and tied off with a big bow, the movie mode is great and the 10fps burst mode is an attractive option.
Pros:
- Great OLED viewfinder
- decent image quality at high resolution
Cons:
- Low-light focusing is poor
- some layout issues
- need more pro lenses in range

The Sony NEX-7 has an interesting lineage: it's the top model in the second generation of Sony's NEX interchangeable lens camera system, a group of cameras focused on good image quality without the bulky controls and steep learning curve of a digital SLR .

Sony's newest NEX camera is technically brilliant, but its controls and menus need some refinement
The Sony NEX-7 has an interesting lineage: it's the top model in the second generation of Sony's NEX interchangeable lens camera system, a group of cameras focused on good image quality without the bulky controls and steep learning curve of a digital SLR.

- Dial-and-wheel interface can be confusing

When the NEX-7 was first announced, it looked as though Sony had gathered together a set of enthusiasts' wish lists and built a camera to exceed them all. From the compact 'rangefinder style' body with its built-in electronic viewfinder, through the high resolution sensor offering 24MP stills and...

- Three dial interface offers extensive fingertip control
- Superb build quality
- Excellent 2.4 million-dot OLED EVF in compact
- slimline body
- 920K dot tilting rear screen
- Very high-resolution 24MP CMOS sensor with impressive high-ISO performance
- Exceptionally 'deep' feature set including Auto HDR
