Sony's NEX camera series has grown from two models to four, and the new Alpha NEX-5R ($749.99 direct with 18-55mm lens) now occupies a difficult position in the lineup. It costs $150 more than our Editors' Choice entry-level compact interchangeable lens camera, the Alpha NEX-F3 , and for that money...
Cons:
- No built-in flash
- So-so kit lens
- No hot shoe
- No dedicated battery charger.

Sony Alpha NEX 5R + 18 55 mm: Any NEX or is the 5R the one for you?
Definitely one to consider if you've been thinking of buying a CSC
Pros:
- well built
- quality of results
- large sensor
- easy to use
- extensive retouch menu
Cons:
- no viewfinder
- I couldn't get the wifi to work

Sony NEX-5R review
The NEX-5R is the product of Sony's continuing refinement of its compact system cameras. We're already fans of the interchangeable lens series, and found the previous NEX-5N model to be a little star in the image quality department, but a little behind in the performance stakes.
Pros:
- Great image quality
- small yet sensible size
- hands-on controls added
- improved buffer opens up burst shooting
- better AF speed than predecessor
- tilt-angle screen bracket doesn't add to bulk
Cons:
- Low-light autofocus lacks feedback and accuracy
- autofocus not quite as fast as the competition
- still some menu digging required
- Wi-Fi operation not as smooth as we'd like
- not taken by PlayMemories app service
- battery life could be better

This Camera is unbelievable. I absolutely love it. I am not a professional photographer, but i know

- cameras low-light performance ( 100-25600iso) - mega-pixels ( 14 mega-pixels with a 3:2 ratio

If you're wondering why compact system cameras like Sony's Alpha NEX-5R are gaining in popularity, it's because they are ideal "next step" models. They offer the flexibility of interchangeable lenses without the overwhelming feeling one gets when handling an SLR.
Pros:

- Good (non-menu) controls

Cons:
- Slow autofocus
- Confusing menus
- Silly "app store" concept

Great picture quality in a small package
I use this on trips or family outings. I love the small size and the picture quality is very goo especially if you use good glass.
