All I hoped it would be!!!

I bought this to replace a Nikon P510 because of the low light performance. Have used it a few times in what would have been sketchy lighting and the photos look fantastic!!
Pros:
  • Easy to Use
  • Fast Shutter Speed
  • Great in Low Light
Cons:
  • Unclear Remote Instuction

Sony NEX-5R review

The NEX-5R is the product of Sony's continuing refinement of its compact system cameras. We're already fans of the interchangeable lens series, and found the previous NEX-5N model to be a little star in the image quality department, but a little behind in the performance stakes.
Pros:
  • Great image quality
  • small yet sensible size
  • hands-on controls added
  • improved buffer opens up burst shooting
  • better AF speed than predecessor
  • tilt-angle screen bracket doesn't add to bulk
Cons:
  • Low-light autofocus lacks feedback and accuracy
  • autofocus not quite as fast as the competition
  • still some menu digging required
  • Wi-Fi operation not as smooth as we'd like
  • not taken by PlayMemories app service
  • battery life could be better

Sony 5R can potentially be a great camera but Sony decided to screw a few things. Pro: -great image quality. - small pocket-able camera. - interface is not as bad as some people have said but can certainly be improved.

Sony NEX-5R

The Sony NEX-5R is outwardly very similar to the older NEX-5N model, so some of the comments that we made about that camera apply equally to the NEX-5R. The NEX-5R's rectangular body shape and blocky grip is less immediately appealing than the retro finesse of an Olympus Pen or modernist curves of...

Sony NEX-5R review

If you're considering spending £500 on a camera, you can expect a massive jump in quality over smartphones and compact cameras. However, that doesn't necessarily mean you want a bulky, complex SLR. Compact system cameras (CSCs) provide the best of both worlds.

Sony NEX-5R Review: Classy, Compact and Connected

The Sony NEX-5R is the successor to the NEX-5N, which turned lots of heads and drew the attention of many to the NEX camera system. The camera was small enough and shot video footage that was satisfactory for the BBC to use for a web series.
Pros:
  • Great image quality up to 6400
  • Fast focusing
  • but still not up to par with Olympus's FAST AF system
  • Compact size
  • The addition of the touchscreen helps a bit in most cases
  • Improved battery life
  • Addition of new dials to make access to settings much simpler and quicker
  • WiFi connectivity is very...
Cons:
  • Our touchscreen wasn't as responsive
  • Old hot shoe
  • Weird placement of the playback button
  • Could have done better with at least an older EVF built in

Sony's NEX-5R camera does so much right

It's a great camera choice for high-quality stills and a streamlined shooting design under $800, but the Sony Alpha NEX-5R falls short when it comes to sharing your shots online.
Pros:
  • Sony Alpha NEX-5R delivers excellent photo quality
  • even in dimmer light
  • and provides more physical controls than some of its predecessors for a more streamlined shooting design
Cons:
  • The wireless connectivity and apps "ecosystem" implementations are far less than this camera deserves
