Sonos, maker of a variety of excellent multi-room music systems, has added a high-end bottom end to its line up of powered speakers – the $999 Sonos Sub . More than just a subwoofer, the Sub incorporates into existing powered Sonos configurations to add a rich bottom end to your streaming music.
Interacts intelligently with other Sonos units; easy to set up; offers crisp and defined bass
May not be necessary with great speakers
Sonos is a brand that markets primarily on convenience, and their products do exactly what they advertise, which is to produce very reasonable sound quality with an extremely easy wireless setup.
Sonos's SUB provides a very welcome low-frequency kick for the already-impressive Play:5 wireless speakers, and the effect would be more pronounced with the smaller Play:3. Seamless integration with an existing Sonos system makes it a very easy upgrade, although it makes an already-pricy audio setup...
Sonos is a pioneer in the wireless audio market - its entire focus is on simple, powerful, high-quality music systems that connect over a home Wi-Fi network, access a huge range of music services, and allow control from a smartphone.
Seamless integration with Sonos systems; Excellent bass; Versatile setup options
Expensive; Requires other Sonos components
The latest addition to the Sonos family of products is the Sonos SUB, which is specifically designed to work with the company's speakers-the Play:3 and Play:5. Either of these can be paired with another speaker of the same model to create a stereo pair for a wider soundfield.
This was beyond easy to setup, even on my finicky network. And it immediately adds boom. Too much maybe But after true play tuning it was too little and I had to bump it up with the EQ. I suspect Sonos is playing games with the sound profile when you turn the sub on-off in the EQ settings.
Have this set up with the play bar and 2 play1 speakers for surround sound.
Doesn't get better then this system!!!! Love it!!!
Sounds incredible and love the fact that you can adjust the bass right from your phone!
Attractive Design; Easy To Set Up; Good Power Output; Great Sound Quality
We own two sonos bars, two subs, a Play 1 and a Play 5. We loved them for about two years, then sonos released an update that took the sonos app off of the lock screen for everyone, and now songs played from the phone don't finish, they get part way in and skip to the next song.
Ideal for several places in our house: Living Room (two stories with NOTHING to dampen reflected sound (very live); Screened-in porch, outdoor patio (infinite baffle)
