Sonos Sub - Black Gloss SONOS-SUB review

The Sonos Sub, an expensive wireless subwoofer that's easy to adjust via app, isn't how you start a Sonos system, but it's a terrific addition to complete one.

Powerful, thunderous bass at highest levels; Subtle low-frequency anchoring at more modest volumes; User-controllable bass levels; Attractive design; Can sit vertically or be laid flat; Easy integration into existing Sonos systems.

Expensive; Large; Only works with Sonos speakers, cannot be physically connected to a subwoofer output.

Sonos Sub is a must to new Beam, making a huge difference to both music and movies. Had a Play5 earlier and now the sound is significantly wider and heavier. Would recommend Sub to anyone who does not live in a small apartment.

Sonos Sub - Black Gloss SONOS-SUB review

The Sonos Sub provides an instant upgrade to your Sonos Play speaker system, but it's quite pricey.

The Sonos Sub has a unique, eye-catching design and its wireless function works from anywhere in a room (though it does have to be plugged in); It really augments the sound of your Play speakers and the setup is a breeze.

Its finish doesn't match any other Sonos components and the Sub doesn't work as well with the Connect: Amp; It's expensive and won't work outside of a Sonos system.

Sonos Sub review: Sonos Sub

When I say the word subwoofer, what comes to mind? Is it a giant box in the corner of the room that rumbles when the dinosaur pads along the ground onscreen? Or the thing that shakes the door panels of cars at traffic lights? Arguably, neither of those have very much to do with "music."

Sonos Sub

When it comes to multiroom music streaming, few systems are as elegant or as easy to use as Sonos. Now, the company has added a dedicated subwoofer to its range, designed to complement its Play:3 and Play:5 powered speakers, or partner with its digital amplifier, the Connect:AMP.

Sonos Sub review

Our verdict on the Sonos Sub is tricky. On one hand you've got a mouth-wateringly expensive accessory for an already pricey range of products. On the other, you've got a truly brilliant piece of audio engineering that will transform turn your living room into a super club.

Simple set up; Great industrial design; Superb bass balance

SONOS PlayBar, Sub and Play:3 Wireless 5.1 Surround Sound System Review

When you're looking for better sound from your flat panel television, sound bars offer a seductive solution: subtle, sexy, self-contained speakers that promise to bring out the best in your favorite movies and TV shows. But for most soundbars, the promise of "surround sound" is an empty one.

SONOS platform is ideal for music lovers; Discrete 5.1 surround from compatible sources; Elegant looks; Wireless operation; A model of simplicity

Expensive; Single optical input; No DTS decoding; Limited by TVs in getting discrete 5.1 sound

Sonos SUB Review

When you decide to pick up a Sonos speaker, you decide to jump into an ever-expanding ecosystem of both hardware and software, with a brand that's dead set on pushing an immersive experience out to the customer.
