Sonos SUB Review: Lots Of Bang, Lots Of Bucks

Sonos is badass with its brainless setup, seamless backend that affords easy access to all of your music, and good sound from its standalone, networked, jukeboxe-y Zone Players. Notice the term "good sound". Not great sound.

Sonos Sub

The Sonos Sub provides an instant upgrade to your Sonos Play speaker system, but it's quite pricey.

The, has a unique, eye-catching design and its wireless function works from anywhere in a room (though it does have to be plugged in); It really augments the sound of your Play speakers and the setup is a breeze

Its finish doesn't match any other Sonos components and the Sub doesn't work as well with the Connect: Amp; It's expensive and won't work outside of a Sonos system

Sonos music system owners already have a deep love for the product but the new subwoofer which can be wirelessly integrated into set-up will make them love it even more. The Sonos Sub looks like a large letter "o" and can be positioned upright or on its side.

Rockin' Bass

This thing sounds awsome! Even a rock could set it up in a couple of minutes flat and I couldn't be more pleased with the sound. It's a beast to carry around at 36 pounds, but the center hole and design of ports (top and bottom) at least make a convenient handle to grab.

Style; sound; convenience

price; glossy finish is dust magnet

Sonos SUB review

Sonos's SUB provides a very welcome low-frequency kick for the already-impressive Play:5 wireless speakers, and the effect would be more pronounced with the smaller Play:3. Seamless integration with an existing Sonos system makes it a very easy upgrade, although it makes an already-pricy audio setup...

Sonos Sub review: Sonos Sub

When I say the word subwoofer, what comes to mind? Is it a giant box in the corner of the room that rumbles when the dinosaur pads along the ground onscreen? Or the thing that shakes the door panels of cars at traffic lights? Arguably, neither of those have very much to do with "music."

Sonos Sub

Sonos, maker of a variety of excellent multi-room music systems, has added a high-end bottom end to its line up of powered speakers – the $999 Sonos Sub . More than just a subwoofer, the Sub incorporates into existing powered Sonos configurations to add a rich bottom end to your streaming music.

Interacts intelligently with other Sonos units; easy to set up; offers crisp and defined bass

May not be necessary with great speakers

Sonos Sub

When it comes to multiroom music streaming, few systems are as elegant or as easy to use as Sonos. Now, the company has added a dedicated subwoofer to its range, designed to complement its Play:3 and Play:5 powered speakers, or partner with its digital amplifier, the Connect:AMP.
