Now I been using the Playbase for months on end and have zero complaints. Now will this change down the line The fact there is no HDMI or DTS support could be a deal breaker for some. This coupled with its high price tag of $699 .

The Playbase is expensive and you can certainly get ones a lot cheaper if you don't mind a simple setup. However, you pretty much get you what pay for here in terms of superior sound quality, design and all the additional features that come with a Sonos multi-room speaker.

There are caveats of course. The Sonos ecosystem still cocks a snoot at Hi-Res Audio – 16 bit/44.1kHz is as good as it gets. It also takes a tough line when it comes to connectivity.

The SONOS PLAYBASE is a product I admittedly really wanted to get my hands on to review. So I was surprised when SONOS reached out to me asking if I'd like to take the new SONOS PLAYBASE for a spin, I didn't hesitate one bit to say yes.
