Some glimmers of hope but not enough to rescue the franchise.

I sometimes wonder if SEGA are deliberately trying to put themselves out of business. Starting the late 90s, their tragically poor marketing of a sequence of hardware developments led to them leaving the games console business forever and they have spent the last then years making their most famous...

Every new Sonic release carries a hope that Sega's blue hedgehog will be able to regain the form that made him a star in the early '90s. And most every venture into the third dimension has resulted in various degrees of failure.

Looks good

Monotonous combat; Imprecise platforming; Inept camera restricts your view; Tons of control issues; Horrendous level design

Sonic Unleashed Review

What's purple, hairy, and grows and shrinks at will (Hint: It's not Grimace's waistline .) [image1]It's Sonic the Hedgehog's new alter-ego, Sonic the Werehog. Yes, that's right. Sonic has joined the venerable ranks of celebrities who've donned furry costumes and howled at the moon in order to stave...

Vibrant environments; Fast-paced and fun by day

Clunky level access; Annoying medal system

Sonic Unleashed

Unleashed on 360 and PS3 is probably the hardest Sonic yet (by design). It's definitely the deepest yet-I've been finding all sorts of little side quests, hidden places, homages and innuendo -it's the most repayable, the best written and acted, and by far the best looking.

Sonic Unleashed

Sonic Unleashed aims to address all the concerns of gamers and fans alike by taking the venerable series back to the drawing board. Thanks to the realisation by SEGA that, in recent years, Sonic the Hedgehog has only ever really worked in a 2D space, there's a heavy emphasis on dynamic 2D to 3D...

Sonic the Hedgehog has had a rough time of it lately. For the last ten years, Sega slowly changed their speedy little mascot into a shadow of its former self. It's not about exploring large green landscapes, collecting coins and saving little animals anymore - it's about biological monsters,...

This game is EXTREMELY overrated. The daytime stages are linear, claustrophobic, and overall boring. The game just holds your hand and just has you keep going, and going, and going, and then occasionally quickstep, drift, and jump to prevent getting hit. This game has you do SO little.

This is a good Sonic game for the first generation of games to PlayStation 3. Good graphics and gameplay, if you are not looking for a MasterPiece game you will enjoy a lot this game. I recommend it to Sonic fans!

Live from E3: Sonic Unleashed Impressions

Poor Sonic. The speedy, blue hedgehog who once butted heads on equal ground with the likes of a plumber named Mario has more recently been relegated to gaming's filth-strewn gutters, sharing space with the likes of Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis and Hour of Victory .

Sonic Unleashed

There was a time, perhaps a year ago, when we were seriously excited about Sonic Unleashed's retro-platform action. The sense of sheer ...

When Sonic just runs; The graphics and tunes; The combat's at least okay

The half-done platforming; Your new friend; Chip; The needless talking sections
