For the Color Aficionado

I'm not going to rant about this camera. Simply put, it's great (if you have patience and enjoy the process as much as the result). This camera is one you take on your own and when you have time and a tripod. It is a treat, and the results can truly be on a whole other level!

It is a unique camera - one to add to a collection perhaps, certainly not an 'action' camera...

Yes, it is an unusual camera, and it is a niche product, as a landscape and abstract photographer it offers a number of advantages: 1. Excellent resolution and color, I do not care how folks measure this, you can debate all you want, this camera has very high 'fidelity' for the price. 2.

(with kit 30mm lens) in an age where everything is fast, from focus to frame buffering, the sd takes the slow, and sometimes painful route. but as they say, there's no gain without pain...

Flawed but incredible

I've owned Sigma cameras for a few years now, starting with a DP2M, then a DP2Q and finally the SDQ. I've got the camera paired with Sigma's stupendous 18-35 f1.8 Art lens. My frist copy of the camera had to be returned for mirror cleaning (something that Sigma was offering for free for early...

Sigma sd Quattro

Sigma is best known as a leading third-party lens producer, but it also has a long history of selling cameras. Having made a couple of 35mm SLRs with its proprietary all-electronic SA lens mount, its first DSLR appeared in 2002, based around the unique triple-layer Foveon X3 sensor.

Excellent image quality at low ISO; Clear and easy-to-use interface; Good level of customisability

Poor high ISO performance; Slow autofocus; No video capture

Sigma's first mirrorless cameras are exactly what we'd expect

Sigma follows up its must-have new lens announcements with a who-wants-it? debut of its first mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras, the Sigma sd Quattro and sd Quattro H. Sigma didn't release a lot of specs for the cameras (though B&H seems to have them), so it's possible there's some buried treasure in there somewhere. But aside from the Foveon sensor and the Sigma lens mount, there doesn't seem to be anything novel or noteworthy about them. And as yet there's no price for them, and that will factor heavily in just how much even those will matter. Sigma hasn't revealed an expected ship date, either.

LIke its enthusiast compacts, Sigma's Foveon-based interchangeable-lens models are kind of odd.
