Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC

With the wide field of view that this lens gives the digital SLR owners that require panoramic style angles, this lens is an answer to their prayers. The performance is excellent and the size and weight is little more than a standard zoom.
Pros:
  • Good performance
  • nudging excellent at the wide end
  • Ability to use standard filters
  • Weight
  • size and handling
  • Price
Cons:
  • Softish edges in middle of range
  • Slight pincushion at 20mm end

[REVIEW-SIGMA 10-20mm EX DC HSM Lens]

This wide angle zoom lens, with a film equivalent focal length range of 15 to 30mm, is one of Sigma's superior line of zooms. The HSM refers to the hypersonic focus motor, which is indeed very fast and very quiet. The lens construction is superb and typical of Sigma's better lenses.
Pros:
  • The lens is remarkably free of objectionable distortions
  • In fact at 10mm distortion is only extreme and noticeable in the corners, if you look hard
  • Resolution and general sharpness are excellent
  • And the auto focus is a delight.
Cons:
  • There is little to criticise about the lens
  • Vignetting is apparent, but that is also par for the type
  • And it is easy enough to remove in Photoshop

Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Review

Using such a wide angle-of-view presents a whole host of fresh creative possibilities and since buying this lens, I rarely use any other focal range to shoot landscape images.

Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens Review

Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM is one of Sigma's professional grade ultra wide zoom lenses. The build quality of Sigma's EX marked lenses rivals that of Canon's L series lenses. This lens falls into this category - it looks and feels sturdy.

Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens Review

The Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens is a very good quality ultra-wide angle lens with a feature that everyone can love - a relatively affordable price tag. I highly recommend that APS-C sensor format body owners include a 10-20mm (or similar) focal length lens in their kit as such a lens is...

Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM review by makcv113

I had this lens on a few Nikon bodies that I owned, a D3100, D5000, and D90. The lens will AF and MF fine on both AF/non AF motor bodies, at least for the bodies that I had. What I love about this lens other than the fact that it's super wide, is the very useful zoom range.
Pros:
  • Very useful zoom range
  • UWA
  • autofocus with any body (Nikon
Cons:
  • non constant aperture
  • slow
  • barrel extends a little when zooming in
  • no OS

With a glance across the spec sheet, the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 could almost be mistaken for the f/3.5 version. It has the same focal range and features Sigma's Hyper Sonic Motor providing fast and reasonably quiet autofocus as well as functionality on Nikon bodies lacking their own AF motor.

Good overall quality and one of the best price performance ratio for Canon aps-c cameras.

  • Very good build quality
  • Silent, quick and accurate autofocus system
  • Lens pouch and hood included
  • Fair price
Cons:
  • High vignetting and barely acceptable sharpness at maximum apertures
