Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 DG Macro
This lens is one of two virtually identical offerings from Sigma in the extremely popular 70-300 category in which almost all manufacturers have at least one contender. In the budget sector, this one, the DG version, is the lesser of the two offerings, but we make no apologies for repeating...
Pros:
- Reasonable optical performance for price
- Good close focus ability (1:2
- Light enough to carry all day
- Price
Cons:
- Long extension when close focussed and zoomed
- Front element and extension rotates during focussing
- Performance drops off at longer focal lengths

Works nicely to me
This seems to be a well built telephoto lens that gets the job done and makes to at least my eye, really great pictures. It feels sturdy. Weighs about as much as a telephoto would I suppose. I don\\\'t like the suede-like feel of it though. I would have preferred just regular smooth plastic.
Pros:
- Price
- solid
- pictures look good IMO
Cons:
- Maybe the feel to touch

Sigma Lens for Nikon
Bought this for the macro function and was really disappointed. Lens did focus and shoot decent pics in regular mode. Would be an ok lens for someone on a limited budget just don't expect to use the macro mode.
Pros:
- Sigma brand name
- great price
Cons:
- Didn't perform to expectations
- Lens wouldn't focus in macro mode, just continued to seek target

Great telephoto zoom lens
This is an APO version, still low price compared with Tamron and Pentax 70-300mm, sharp at 200mm, even at 300mm it is good. I used it to take many shots and like it. It even comes with a case. There's one problem with its rotated front glass, so may be trouble for CPL filter.
Pros:
- low price
- sharp at 200mm
- even at 300mm it is good
Cons:
- have not found so far

Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro review by thomasjohnlynch
I would agree with those who say this is an above average lens. My use is for ALL outdoors, sun, so fast shutter (no need for IS) and also I can take the high F need. All of these features of this lens mean it's a specialty lens. there are a lot of stuff in there and every element cuts it down.
Pros:
- price
- quality
- speed
Cons:
- no canon logo? maybe TOO complicated to work as GREAT lens

Good so far........
I haven't had a lot of time to play with the new lens yet to list any pros and cons. I am happy so far and the price is GREAT compared to other lenses. Very easy to exchange the lenses on the camera body.
