Pleased with this purchase so far

I debated for a while on whether to wait until I could afford the Nikon version or going ahead and getting the Sigma. I have a trip coming up to Alaska so decided to go ahead and give the Sigma a try. I have only had it for a short while but so far I am very pleased with the results from this lens.

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM review

Sigma's first optically stabilised 70-200mm f/2.8 promises much. Gary Wolstenholme takes a look at whether it delivers.

Excellent centre sharpness at most focal lengths and apertures; Very low CA levels; Fast AF; Optical Stabiliser; Decent build quality

Lacklustre resolution performance at 70mm and f/2.8

Overall it's a very good lens and a good investment. It gives fantastic results when used at f/4 and also gives very good and perfectly usable images at f/2.8 It's only a notch off the Nikon and Canon alternatives. I am very pleased with it and have not regretted buying it one bit.

A bit soft at f/2.8

Great Build Quality, Stabilizer works very effectively with low shutter speeds, has a very heavy and solid feel, silent and fast autofocus; It has very smooth zoom and focus rings; It performs great in low light situations and provides high shutter speeds

Sigma's 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG MACRO HSM is solidly built and well designed, although the zoom ring could do with being about an inch further forward to make it truly comfortable to use.

Sharp lens

This is a great value-for-money lens. It feels great in the hand, but more importantly it focuses quickly and is very sharp.

Consistent Output; Easily Interchangeable; Quick Focus; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

I purchase this Sigma 70-200mm lens as a replacement for my Canon 70-200mm lens without stabilize capabilities. WOW, what a amazing lens, on my first day of purchasing it I went out to back country National park area,I guess I can call it my lucky lens.

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 APO EX DG OS Lens

Sigma has been producing fast tele zoom lenses for hand-held photography since the late 1980s and, although the new 70-200mm f/2.8 APO EX DG OS lens claims to be a second generation model, we estimate it's the sixth in a line that reaches back to the original AF 70-210mm f/2.8, which was designed...

Rugged is better than light and cheap!

Lens is a little heavy, but better that cheap, light weight plastic. Lens is used mostly for shooting indoor concerts & sporting events and seems to fast focus very well.

Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Rugged; Strong Construction

A great lens for the intermediate photographer

This is the first time I have used a lens of this size, weight and features. So far I am pleased with the ease of which I can test each of the auto, manual focus and stabalizer features. For my style of photography I am pleased with the image clarity and colour.

Low cost, high sharpness

High sharpness at low price. The same type of non-third party lenses (official brands) costs twice more, but the results are very, very similar... Recommended 100%!
