Sigma AF 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM | A ("Art") (Nikon FX) - Review / Test Report

From the fast primes that Sigma has introduced so far, this is probably the best one, yet. The resolution is impressive, CAs and distortion are well under control. Vignetting is quite pronounced at large apertures, but that's not really a surprising result for such a fast lens.

AF did not work at all when the lens was shot on a D800E for the first time. After searching the internet for help I learned that the lens must be sent to Sigma together with the camera. The lens will then be adjusted to the specific camera individually without any charge.

Excellent ultra-sharp images even at max aperture; High resolution and contrast

Needs service before used for the very first time; No aperture ring

Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens

Sigma's 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM is the first model in the company's 'Art' series of lenses. Designed primarily for cameras with 'full frame' (36 x 24 mm) sensors, it can also be used with APS-C sensors, where it covers a focal length equivalent to 56mm on Canon cameras or 52.5mm with other brands (Nikon,...

Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Lens Review (Canon Mount)

Overall, not a bad thing can be said about Sigma ‘ s 35mm f1.4 EX. The company surely put a lot of time and effort into the design and it ‘ s worth every penny. The lens is sharp as a razor, a relative speed-demon when it comes to focusing, and has some beautiful image quality.

Cost of Sigma lens vs; cost of Canon, Nikon or Zeiss lens, Great image quality, Optional USB dock to update firmware, Fast autofocus speed

Lack of weather sealing

Better get extra "medical" insurance because this lens is SHARP!

I bought this to shoot weddings - it takes a bit to get adjusted from the versatility of a 24-70 but once you do you don't want to change lens even when you know / you're taught in some cases you should be using a longer lens! At F/2.8 it's almost TOO sharp! But vignetting is heavy wider than f/2...

Classy Lens..

I was always told, 'You get what you pay for' and this lens is no exception! I've used the lens at f2.8, 4 and 8 and could not tell the difference in picture quality or sharpness across all apertures. Ok, so the lens is a bit bulky, but that's because it contains a serious amount of glass!

best prime lens ever All my reviews

I always regarded Sigma as being a cheaper third party lens. This lens is quite possibly the best prime lens I own. I have several brand name high end prime lenses that perform well but nowhere near as superb as this.

Nice lens! Good job, Sigma!

This is a very good prime lens for portrait, street shooting, and some landscape. Works fine on my Nikon D700, but need to adjust focusing with +15 fine tuning, not bad at all! Image quality is super good, someone said it is even better than 35G, which is $500 more expensive than this one!
