Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Lens Review (Canon Mount)

Overall, not a bad thing can be said about Sigma ‘ s 35mm f1.4 EX. The company surely put a lot of time and effort into the design and it ‘ s worth every penny. The lens is sharp as a razor, a relative speed-demon when it comes to focusing, and has some beautiful image quality.

Cost of Sigma lens vs; cost of Canon, Nikon or Zeiss lens, Great image quality, Optional USB dock to update firmware, Fast autofocus speed

Lack of weather sealing

very satisfied. my regular walk around lens in a new city

very sharp lens. Great for walk around and street photography. Sharpness intact even after cropping. great capture in low light because of the f 1.4. Feels great to hold and premium finish. Paired with my Nikon D750 it works just great.

Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM Art

The Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM Art isn't the only third-party option in town. The Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 has its own set of benefits, including a lower price tag, more uniform illumination, closer focus, and image stabilization.

Very sharp; Wide aperture; Attractive price; Available for multiple camera systems; Solid build quality; Eligible for mount conversion

Heavy vignette effect; Omits image stabilization; Not the best option for ultra-high-resolution cameras

Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM "Art"

In late 2012, Sigma re-structured its lens lineup and announced that its future lenses would each be part of one of three new product lines: "Contemporary" for affordable consumer lenses, "Sport" for fast telephoto lenses, or "Art" for high-performance primes and zooms.

Exceptional bokeh, Razor-sharp, Optically-superb on APS-C, Unrivaled fast F1.4 aperture (vs; the Pentax lens lineup, Silent autofocus, Perfect for portraits, landscapes, or close-ups, Solid build quality, Professional-grade performance, 4-year extended warranty, Cheaper than the Pentax FA 31mm ($899...

Much bigger than necessary (for APS-C; Heavy (665g; Long and bulky (with hood; Smaller/cheaper alternatives exist for APS-C cameras; No USB dock available for Pentax; No weather sealing

Sigma has produced some really fine lenses over the past few years, including the 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM (which we liked a lot when we reviewed it in 2008 ) and the 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM . But the 35mm F1.4 DG HSM may possibly be its best yet.

Superb optics that beat anything else in its class; Impressive flare resistance; Fast; silent; and accurate autofocus; Excellent build quality; Very competitive price; Photographers looking for a top-notch; fast 35mm autofocus prime without breaking the bank

Slightly fussy rendition of out-of-focus backgrounds under some conditions; No weather sealing; Anyone who shoots a lot in damp or dusty conditions
