One of the best pieces of news professional working photographers have heard in the lens world could be about the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG OS HSM Art Lens. Unlike many first party options out there, it has optical stabilization built in which helps a lot at weddings, events, for portraits, etc.

Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG HSM ART OS - Review / Test Report

The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG HSM ART OS promised many things ... and delivered only a few of them. Let's start with a positive aspect - throughout the zoom range it is darn sharp in the broader image center.

Well worth getting

After doing my research I an so glad that I got this lens. It is sharp wide open, focus is fast. The depth of field is great also.

This is my workhorse lens. I shoot with a lot of prime lenses and this is actually the only multi-focal lens that I own. Images come out super sharp. I use this more for landscape and architecture shots but I don't think it'll have any trouble doing portraits.

Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Art Lens Review

It is always exciting to bring in a new Sigma Art lens and covering the normal, most-commonly-used focal length range with an f/2.8 aperture combined with optical stabilization definitely raised the anticipation level for this one.

The Sigma fares excellently well in the frame centre and on its edge but only at the shorter focal lengths, doing it at the expense of the edges of the frame at 70 mm. It deals well with chromatic aberrations but the spherical variety remains a problem.

Solid casing designed for high rigidity,, Excellent image quality in the frame centre,, Good image quality on the edge of the APS-C,, Lack of problems with longitudinal chromatic aberration,, Sensible coma correction,, Low vignetting on the APS-C/DX,, Silent, quick and accurate autofocus,, Efficient...

Resolution on the edge of the frame at the 70 mm focal length should have been better,, Noticeable problems with spherical aberration,, Weak performance against bright light,, A bit too high astigmatism level,, Significant vignetting on full frame,, Noticeable distortion of moustache style on the...

Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Art review

It’s the safest lens you can buy. With the sturdy build and compatibility, you can fit it on whatever model camera you have. Also, crisp picture quality, even at full zoom is a great plus. It delivers a decent bokeh, and it’s great for wide-angle shots. It’s the perfect all-rounder.

The build is sturdy, compact and it balances well, Quick and silent auto focus with an ultrasonic drive system, Excellent auto focus as well as stabilization with smooth Bokeh, Provides remarkable image quality even at the widest aperture, Exceptional build quality, handling, and performance even in...

Extra-large 82mm filter thread, Comparatively heavy for an f/2.8 zoom, Not compatible for extreme whether photography as it’s not weather-sealed

Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Art review

The Apple iPhone 14 isn’t a huge upgrade on the iPhone 13, yet it still is a great phone with a top camera, good battery life and all the iOS benefits.

Clever safety features, Very good battery life, Reliable camera, Fun colours, You’ve got an ageing iPhone: If you’re on an iPhone 11 or older, then the changes here will make a notable difference.

Stuck on a 60Hz display, Minimal differences to the iPhone 13, You’ve got an iPhone 13: The changes from Apple’s previous phone aren’t enough to warrant an upgrade this year.
