Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM "A" review by Nikonuser

I replace my Tamron 17-50 f2.8 by this lens and I do not regret. It is sharp and on my D7100 it is a perfect match. The only negative comment, it is a big and heavy lens compare to my Tamron.

Sharp; price f1.8

Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM A Lens Review

Gary Wolstenholme reviews the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM A standard zoom lens.

Excellent sharpness; Constant f/1.8 aperture; Low falloff for an f/1.8 lens; Good build quality; Reasonably priced

No real issues to report

I bought this lens for my A77 and was very disappointed 'cause the AF was very unreliable, OK for people, but horrible for landscape. Tried to fix it with the Sigma docking station, but that only works if you have a clear front- or back-focus on the lens and you don't have the possibility to correct...

fast/bright lens; very sharp; great built quality; nice bokeh AF on mirror-less cameras (with LA EA3 on the A6300; BUT only in AF-C mode) is very reliable; even in dim light (with the iris open

Slow focus (but for an 18-35mm f1.8 which i do not intend to use for sports; it's OK); CA (but as I shoot raw; no problem in post processing); weight (again; it's an f1.8 lens; it simply can't be that lightweight) Focusing on SLR (those with that clapping mirror) is inaccurate; not correctable with...

Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Lens Review

The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM lens is built for APS-C format cameras, providing a 27-52.5mm equivalent full frame field of view. At 1.78 lbs, the lens is not quite a bear; however, you'll definitely notice an increase and size and weight from other variable aperture zoom lenses built for APS-C...

This is a classy lens for APS sensor cameras in every way. Build quality is first rate with smooth zoom and focusing action. It is a perfect match for my Canon 70D (or a 7D) Image quality stopped down is razor sharp with virtually no distortion or vignetting.

Excellent build and image quality

One needs to use this lens with care due to the shallow depth of field

Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM | A ("Art") - Review / Test Report

We are a little late with this review but finally here it is ... our test of the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM "Art" (Canon mount, Nikon will follow eventually). The lens produced quite some buzz when it was released earlier this year.

Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM Review

Sigma's 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM ($800) is a formidable piece of glass if you're looking for a medium focal length (short, if you're shooting full frame), wide aperture add-on for your DSLR, provided you've got the budget for an $800 lens.

Terrific image quality; Wide f/1.8 aperture; Snappy autofocus

Short zoom doesn't do much; May be overkill for APS-C users; Flaky lens cap

A product of perfection. Beats all the other lences in the range provided by NIKON or CANON.

Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM "Art"

During Photokina in 2012, Sigma officially announced a re-structuring of their entire lens lineup, declaring that all future lenses would each be part of one of three new product lines: "Contemporary" for affordable consumer lenses, "Sport" for fast and weather-sealed telephoto lenses, or "Art" for...

Constant F1.8 aperture throughout zoom range; Excellent build quality throughout the lens' construction; Large focus and zoom rings are perfectly dampened and easy to find and grasp; Capable of shallow-depth of field wide angle portraits; The only fast and wide angle solution for Pentax's many...

Not weather-sealed despite excellent build quality and both internal zoom and focusing; Dreadful autofocus accuracy when using PDAF (looking through viewfinder; Bokeh can be jarring with highlights; producing "frog-egg" or "donut" ring bokeh; Stark color; temperature; and contrast shift from wide...
