Credit must be given to Sigma for taking the plunge and being the first to pull off this optical feat. Despite being a touch heavy – especially for a lens intended for smaller APS-C format D-SLRs – the 18-35mm impressed us in almost all areas of testing.

I bought this recently and what a great buy it was! I do low light shots at music venues and needed a good, reliable wide angle zoom that could do it. This lens is now my main kit for gig photography. It's great in low light and very sharp.

In the past, when I was working in a photo store, the aversion towards other than original lenses (especially Sigma) was really overwhelming. A common malady of these lenses was that the same lens types differed from piece to piece and sometimes fell apart after half year of usage.

As far as our opinion goes, this lens stands out because of the variety of different needs it can cater to. The f/1.8 aperture is very fast. You can use it to capture images or record videos in places with low-light. Plus, the Hyper-Sonic motor or HSM is silent while it helps you auto focus.
