Sigma 12-24mm F/4.5-5.6 II DG HSM New glass is always an exciting prospect, so I jumped at the chance to try two of Sigma's new offerings, the first being the Sigma AF 12–24mm f/4.5–5.6 II DG HSM. The lens is a leap in design from its hugely successful predecessor.

Must buy for cash crunched but want a quality product..
I wanted a zoom lens as well as wide angle especially for outdoor and landscape shooting. This lens does exactly that at half the price. Its very very much comparable to Nikkor lenses. In fact its better with more lens elements and equal number of aspherical elements.

Pros:
- Decent optical performance for a super zoom lens
- Lightweight
- Compact
- Well built
- Optical stabiliser is useful (especially given the modest maximum aperture at 200mm
Cons:
- Slower to focus than equivalent lenses with a silent focusing motor
- Sloppy manual focusing action
- CA levels at wide and telelphoto

Nice little lens!
I bought this lens for a friend who wanted to upgrade from the kit lens (18-55mm nikon), her complaint was the short range of it. I got this Sigma for her and played a little bit with it, and was pleasantly surprised.

Lens is great!
This is an amazing lens. It is very versatile in its performance, and is one of the better lenses i have used from Sigma. Its a primary lens for my camera. I love it. HIGHLY recommend this lens....
