Not a very good choice at all for low light
The out door pics were ok but the indoor low light pics were horrible at best every face had orange tint in them & poor low light in back/sides of the subject almost blacked out.I would never recommend this lens to anyone !- Poor in Low Light
Excellent lens
This lens performs like my 50mm 1.8/f prime lens, but with the ability for zoom in and out. This is exactly what I needed and I'm so glad that a friend recommended it to me. It's so clear, has excellent bokeh, and feels very solid. I never leave home without it.
Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM Lens For Nikon (Black)
i like this product and i can recommend too- its work perfectly
I've been using this lens for 5 months and I can tell clearly that the lens sucks on this aspect
Everything that's told about this lens is right and delivered; except two things. 1. OS - no OS as Sigma claims. I've been using this lens for 5 months and I can tell clearly that the lens sucks on this aspect. 2.
Great for the price!
Was looking for a lens like this for a while. When I saw this lens on the internet, I did some research and decided to buy it. It is now my main lens for everything from landscapes to portraits. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because the focusing motor is noisy for videos.
Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM review
A compact standard zoom lens for APS-C digital SLRs from Sigma with a bright constant f/2.8 aperture, optical stabilisation and a silent focusing motor.- Excellent performance in the centre between 28 and 50mm when stopped down
- Effective Optical Stabiliser
- Compact and lightweight for an f/2.8 zoom
- Lens really needs stopping down for best results
- Sharpness towards the edges
- Focus ring cannot be disengaged
Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM standard zoom lens
When it comes to DSLR image quality, pretty much all of us have heard the old truism about the quality of the lens being more important than the price of the camera. In this respect it pays to get off to the best possible start when buying your first DSLR, or when taking your first steps towards...- Constant aperture of f/2.8
- Smooth zooming action
- Delivers excellent results
- Manual focus ring is fiddly
- All-plastic outer construction
- Resolution tails off above f/11
Pleasing Results, Very Good Quality
Picked up one of these used on eBay. It's a crap shoot when you buy a used lens, especially a third party brand, but Sigma has a good reputation, and online reviews of this model are very decent. Price is steep for a third-party lens, but picture quality is very good, especially between 28 and 50mm.
As far as build quality is concerned, the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM is very sturdy, with a rigid zoom barrel that doesn't need much rotating to go through all the focal lengths.
