Shure SRH840 Professional Monitoring Headphones
I was looking for a pair of over-the-ear cans for use at work. I wanted good sound and some isolation -- both incoming, to enjoy the music more, and outgoing, so as not to disturb others. In looking at the reviews here and on other Web sites, I was drawn to the SRH840.

Shure SRH840
I have had 2 pairs and both have stopped working, these aren't professional headphones and I'd stay away from them if you want to keep them longer than a year of professional use.
Pros:
- Noise cancelling
Cons:
- - Stop working after minimal use

Shure SRH840 review: Shure SRH840
The Shure SRH840 is an excellent pair of headphones that should outlast and outperform any equivalently-priced consumer model. Want a pair of headphones that sound good but don't want to pay too much money? The smart money is on professional headphones. Not only are you getting great sound for the cash, but the headphones are designed to last forever. While they usually look uglier than consumer models, who will care if you're using them at home?
Pros:
- Excellent build quality
- Detailed sound
- Replacement ear cups and detachable cord.
Cons:
- Uncomfortable for big ears
- Competitive pro models offer better value for money.

Shure SRH840
Shure has been one of the kings of in-ear headphones for years, but it's a relative newcomer to high-quality studio headphones. The Shure SRH840 are one rung down from the top-end SRH940 closed-back headphones, and sell for around £130.
Pros:
- Excellent clarity
- Warmth adds sonic enjoyment
- Great value
Cons:
- Not light
- Large
- Some design quirks

Quality headphones...
I've been waiting for a while to get new headphones after I lost my Shure SE530PTHs earphones and I finally decided to jump in when I saw Shure was coming out with some new cans. They don't sound quite as good as the 530s did, but these are high quality headphones that would be hard to beat.

I paid $200. I have owned a few headphones in my life, including top of the line Sennheisers, which I paid ~$500 for (2005). I love headphones. For $200 I consider these value priced. When compared to the market as a whole, its just not a lot of money, especially when you are aiming for the best.

i did a lot of research for headphones for my ipod. i planned to use it out and about, and man are these just awesome. they isolate sound great, they fit great, i've worn em for days at a time. the sound is so clear, but make sure you buy high quality sound. (like 300kbps+) what a great purchase.

*As mentioned in many external reviews, they will not satisfy bass-heads!* Apart from that, these headphones deliver a very nice and balanced frequency range and as also mentioned in many other reviews, are excellent at retrieving detail in music, th..
