We have used dozens of these for electronic news gathering systems (ENG). They are fairly rugged and deliver very good sound quality. The mic element takes a fair amount of abuse, has very good isolation from handling noise, and delivers good levels to ENG cameras without phantom power.

Bought it due to its omni pickup pattern and length, conducive to interviews. Surprised and disappointed at the very low output level; I'm running inputs wide open to get decent level.
