Although many Serge Lutens fragrances are based on a similar oriental accord of balsamic amber, violet and pale woods, I cannot resist yet another new interpretation of Lutens' trademark exoticism.

It's what I would call a pure purple floral- deep and intense, slightly fruity, not powdery 'white'. The fragrance color suits that impression. I wouldn't call it complex, just powerfully feminine, and unmistakable. Be sure you like the notes before buying, obviously (Fragrantica is a good site).
This strong flower scent transfers me to The Past. It makes me wonder about the smells I would have known, had I lived a hundred or a hundred and fifty years ago (a good period: the beginning of photography, Flaubert, Tchechov and Proust alive): kitchen scents (madeleine), wardrobe scents, candy...
This is a lovely fragrance, beautiful package, almost as beautiful as the rash that came up after using! This is the only perfume ever to give me a rash! )
I recently received two Serge Lutens perfume samples, from Glossybox if I recall rightly. The first one I tried was L'Eau which is a very simple scent yet absolutely gorgeous and I think I fell in love with it just a little bit, so I was really looking forward to trying the other Serge Lutens scent...
good staying power; might be nice at Christmas
too spicy for me; think it would be better suited to a candle or air freshener than a perfume
If Datura Noir were a person: Loretta, sixty-something, Las Vegas. She puts on her dress (classy, but showing quite a bit of her ample cleavage) and heads down to the casino. It's one of the older casinos, a little divey, but the drinks are strong and the men are nice to her.
