Check the dimensions. Thicker than most.

I used this in a small-footprint desktop that really didn't have a good drive bay arrangement. It's a lot of storage in a small space, and it works perfect for my purpose, but one would be hard pressed to find a laptop that would take a drive this thick.

It will work great for a tower, but that's all. It's too thick to fit into most laptops and forget about putting it into a notebook.. Shame on me, I did not check the thickness before I ordered. $140 for a 4tb drive is a fantastic deal!

Fast transfer speed and very high storage capacity

My old hard drive started running low on space and after much deliberation between which one to get I finally settled on getting a 4TB drive, plugged it into my laptop with little hassle. Transfer speeds are pretty good and got a lot more space.

Faster

I was frustrated trying to copy a lot of files of all sizes on to one of my enclosed portable drives like the MX49604 while a friend waited forever for it to be finished. Using the Vantec docking station with this 4 TB drive worked on the same files in minutes.

I am comparing this item to the small portable hard drives like Seagate and WD , MX49604 as an example without picking on this particular item(s) ; At roughly the same size the hard drive is much faster with data when copying from a computer than the portable ones.

Of course this is not a portable drive but still comes in at the same size as the enclosed WE and Seagate drives; That makes it portable if protected from static; Once that is done you have a larger drive that copies like a hard drive and fits in a pocket just as easy as the enclosed portable drives
