Seagate Backup Plus Portable
The Portable comes with a USB 3.0 connector which can be detached (exposing SATA data and power connectors) and swapped for a Firewire 800 or Thunderbolt connector, making it a tempting proposition for those concerned about future-proofing and backwards compatibility.

Mac and PC without formatting the drive.
The drive is slick, attaches seamlessly to my Mac and my PC without having to format the drive or losing any previously backed up data. Thin and decently portable as well. Very happy with my purchase.

Really nice portable notebook drive. I love the finish on the case. A little worried that the adapter connection to the hard drive might get loose over time, but other then that it is an awesome product. If i have the chance, i'll probably purchase another in the future.

Needs better software...
Bad storage system. Saves only select few files overall and when another backup comes in, it saves only new or changed files which it stores in a whole other file!
Pros:
- Nice sleek case
- very good eye candy for any tech guy
Cons:
- Doesn't backup the entire system
- It failed to backup my "My Documents" folder, losing me years of data

Good purchase
Though it took 5 days for the product to come to my hand. Entire purchase experience is satisfactory this time. Keep up the same at all the times infibeam.

A speedy little portable hard drive with backup software that can save Facebook and Flickr photos

Works until it dies then your SOL
Great to use for a backup if you do not need the information on it. Or if you have an extra $600.00 lying around to pay seagate to try and get the information back, if it's even possible. It's the last Seagate product I'll ever buy.
Pros:

- then it died
Cons:
- Mine died today, a mechanical drive failure
- And all my information is gone

Seagate Backup Plus 500GB review
Whatever Seagate is doing to make its drive go fast it's working. Like its 1TB compatriot in the super-sized portables group the Backup Plus 500GB left nearly every other drive in its wake when it came to our performance tests. In fact this was the fastest portable drive we've tested.

USB drive
This external usb harddrive is detected automatically by my Windows computer without need to install any driver or need to reboot my machine. The drive is super fast and does not make a lot of noise. I ran it for over hours and it feel warm but not hot to touch.
