Poor quality hard drive
I used this as a backup for my photography, after 5 months it started freezing my computer and eventually failed completely. It crashed my Macbook Pro twice and actually crashed the tech company's computer, too. Lost everything on it. Don't invest in this hard drive.

Seagate portable HDD
Its a cracker, about an 1/8 the size of my older portable HDD's, easy set up but my word it backs your files up into a virtual secret place in its memory so its not easy to find where its stored your files.

Liked the first one -- bought another
Two small drives are used for rotating offsite photo backup. Recording and retrieval both occur in non-hostile envirnonment, so no specific "toughness" is required. These drives are compact, fast enough for this application, and , so far, reliable.

a 2 in one product
Pros:
- nice drive
- usb 3
- and doesn't scratch
Cons:
- larger than a standard drive
- and finish is plastic not metal

This was by far the easiest backup I have done. Simply put cord in the storage device and plug it into your computer port and click to begin the backup. I am continually moving either my own laptop or the church's laptop back and forth from home to church and the unit itself is a sleek, slim design...

The BEST buy I ever made
Its very simple to explain why I like this so much....when you have 1 terabyte of storage in a space that is less than half the size of a paperback book you know somebody did something right. Its light, its fast, its so easy to carry you could forget you have it..

Pros:
- Great transfer speeds- up to 150mb+ a sec for large files
- It's quiet, light and doesn't need a separate power supply.
Cons:
- Random access speeds are decent but not amazing
- Expect ~25mb a second if you're copying thousands of smaller files
