Makes me wanna scream.

As fun as it is, there's something rather...disturbing...about Screamride. A game about racing rollercoaster cars down rails at tremendous speeds and smashing them into concrete skyscrapers isn't to be taken seriously, of course, and I'm not terribly concerned about the riders, who seem beyond...

Demolition is a blast; Screamriding brings occasional thrills; Great interface makes it easy to interact with the creation tools

Sandbox and sharing suffer from some bizarre limitations; Frame rate and control issues

ScreamRide Review

Sorry for the Red Hot Chili Peppers lyrics to open, but it was that or B*Witched. So as you may have guessed, ScreamRide is a rollercoaster game, sort of. It is at it's core a rollercoaster game, but it does try to go a little deeper than that.

More like mild yelling

A solid game that definitely has an audience. Might lack replay value, could be too short or there are some hard-to-ignore faults, but the experience is fun.

Screamride won't offer a ton of replay value unless you enjoy building new coasters again and again. However, what it does offer are some fun, short minigames that can keep you coming back for higher scores or faster times.

The Coaster Has Stalled

The gameplay is basically the same between the two versions of ScreamRide. However, community-minded players should be aware that the ability to share your created levels (and experience other user's creations) is exclusive to Xbox One.

Game Review: Screamride [XboxOne/Xbox360]

A disturbing sense of satisfaction accompanies the launching of a rollercoaster full of pedestrians into a roaring skyscraper, only for you to sit back and marvel at the unfolding destruction.

A creative and fun array of mechanics; Demolition Expert mode is brilliant fun; made even better by some unpredictable physics; A wealth of user generated content on top of the main game; Excellent yet somewhat limited creation tools

Certain modes feel uneven and frustrating; with poorly explained objectives; Poor framerate and other technical issues pop up throughout; Fails to make full use of its mechanics and grows boring as a result

Great to begin with but after a full day with it im pretty bored, the sand box mode is ok to fall back on but you need to complete most of the boring repetitive main challenges to unlock the material required to properly enjoy the sandbox mode.

No roller coaster tycoon

I guess I'd expected more building and less "racing". A fun distraction though for myself, a touch too thoughtless without being engaging enough for mindless engagement.
