SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive

Unlike many Android phones and tablets, iPhones and iPads don't have expandable storage. You're stuck with the 16, 64, 128 or 256GB that are built in to the Apple device you buy. Unless you get an iXpand Flash Drive, that is.

The new SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive is super compact, very speedy when working with a computer and adds up to 128GB of storage to your iPhone or iPad; Its mobile app can back up data from your mobile device effectively and play back content well

The drive can't hold files larger than 4GB and doesn't support popular audio soundtrack formats; It shortens the mobile device's battery life

SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive

At $120, the 128GB iXpand works out to an affordable $0.94 per gigabyte. Three additional models are available, but the value isn't quite as great. The $89.99 64GB model costs $1.41 per GB, the $59.99 32GB model comes to $1.87, and the $49.99 16GB drive is the most expensive, at $3.12 per GB.

Fast read speeds; Built-in file manager; Integrated media playback and auto-backup

Flimsy connector cable; App crashed repeatedly when transferring large files in testing

VERY GOOD

This is a very reliable and useful little device. Pairs seamlessly with my iPhone 6s Plus internal drive. No issues at all. Well, maybe with price which is too steep imo. There are plenty of much cheaper ones out there and probably every bit as reliable I would think.

SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive: Giving Your iPad / iPhone Needed Space [Review]

Using a iPad or iPhone you have grown to having fixed storage on these devices. They don't have expandable storage card slots like some android devices and you are pretty much stuck with what you have.

SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive

The iXpand has the potential to be a wonderful accessory, especially for portable storage. But it transfers data slowly, so be prepared to use it for very small transfers that can't be made by other, faster means.

Lightweight; sleek design; Viewing video on iPhone; Sharing files via Airdrop; Securing sensitive files

Speed; Price; Could be obsolete with next-generation iPhones

SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive

When was the last time that you paid more than R1 000 for a 32 GB flash drive Personally, I've never had to cough up that much, which is why the new SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive 's R1 500 price tag is so surprising.

Well constructed; Quick and easy to use app

Overpriced; Lighting connection not flexible enough

SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive for iPhone and iPad, First Take: Useful but complicated

Thanks to the Lightning connector, you can't just plug a Micro-USB OTG drive into your iOS devices the way you can with Android phones and Windows tablets. You need a drive with the Lightning cable like the SanDisk iXpand , which is now available as a 128GB model, and with extra security options.
