Samsung Series 8 27" LED Monitor (S27A850D)
Truly a state-of-the-art monitor using new PLS LED panel technology providing 2,560x1,440 resolution. Great colour, great contrast, great clarity. Simple to adapt the high resolution screen to make good use of the 27" real estate. It has an adjustable stand, a USB3 hub and speaker in & out jacks.
It would be great if this monitor comes with rounded corners. I have another monitor-AOC which has this feature. other than that, this is a great monitor with excellent display.

Samsung Series 8 S27A850D review
We have a habit of relentlessly banging the TN-vs-the-rest drum. But we do it because we care. Both about technology and your very fine elves. Sorry, selves. Samsung's all-new S27A850D has us at something of a disadvantage. Many of its on-paper specs are thoroughly familiar.
Samsung SyncMaster S27A850D
Samsung's SyncMaster S27A850D is the first of a new breed. It shares the same 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution as many high-end 27in monitors, but the panel technology is new: Samsung's latest marks the debut of its own Plane-to-Line Switching, or PLS, panel technology.

Samsung Series 8 SyncMaster S27A850T
Samsung's SyncMaster S27A850T is an incredibly pretty, thin monitor, which proves that PLS is a viable IPS alternative. We did find some banding in gradients, and the HDMI movie performance isn't great, but for beautiful sharp imagery and high-level computer use, it's incredibly appealing.- PLS proves itself as a viable alternative to IPS
- Incredibly thin
- Good blacks
- Power-saving features
- Energy frugal
- Incredible height adjustment
- Allows 90-degree vertical rotation
- Pricey compared to the competition
- Some banding and discolouration in gradients
- HDMI port doesn't cope well with interlaced content or judder
Samsung S27A850D (SA850 27in)
A quality display is no more ‘just a monitor' than a Ferrari is ‘just a sports car'. You pay a significant premium to get a high-end panel like IPS, rather than the TN panels found in most affordable monitors.- Generally good image quality
- 2,560 x 1,440 resolution
- Decent value
- Fully adjustable
- Generous connectivity
- Contrast shift
- Fiddly controls
- No HDMI
