Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

10.1? The impression I get with the naming of this much-anticipated grown-up version of last year's Galaxy Tab is that it has psychological hangups about (ahem) ‘size'. I imagine it loitering down the pub, boasting of its prowess: "It's not just TEN inches, Al, it's TEN-point-ONE!

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is a far cry from its little brother, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.

Despite the fact that you can still buy this tablet right now, it's definitely aging when you compare it to other tablets of comparable price on the market. While it does offer some pretty awesome features, the core performance of the screen and outdated version of Android will lead many to seek...

This great-looking, media-centric tablet has an excellent screen and speakers, but it lags behind a bit in value versus other 10-inch slates. (Blame the CPU and meager 16GB of storage.)
Pros:
  • Great-looking screen
  • Excellent sound recording and playback
  • Decent-quality cameras
Cons:
  • Older dual-core-technology processor
  • Low (16GB) storage for the price
  • Relatively short battery life

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Review

Is my repeatedly-thrown gauntlet between new iPad and the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 a fair challenge? They feature roughly the same dimensions and both are available in 16GB capacity, with this entry-level (Wi-Fi-only) Apple option coming in at a nice neat $100 above the one and only Samsung choice, so for...
Pros:
  • Gotta love that microSDHC card slot
  • Superior onboard stereo sound
  • That IR emitter that turns this tablet into a super-mega-ultra remote
  • in seconds
  • Rich
  • consumer-friendly Google Ecosystem
Cons:
  • The screen pales beside the latest competition from Apple
  • Slightly sluggish to boot
  • load
  • Wi-Fi only
  • no data/carrier options

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

With Asus' 32GB Transformer Pad available for £399 complete with quad-core CPU, 8Mp camera and keyboard dock, and the smaller Nexus 7 soon to hit the market for £160, the Galaxy Tab 2 isn't quite cheap enough to make a compelling case for itself. It's not a bad device per se , though.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 review

A year ago we liked the Tab 10.1, and for the second generation the hardware specs remain broadly the same, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 has a much better operating system. All for £100 cheaper than it was.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)

Samsung has definitely established itself as a great name in the world of Android, so you can expect to hear plenty of good stuff about its Galaxy range of tablets. Among these is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) Wi-Fi , a non-3G device that comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich installed right...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 review

We've had not one, but two tablets from Samsung in recent times. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet looks and behaves very similarly to the Galaxy Note 10.1 (not to be confused with the Galaxy Note 2 -- that's a 5.5-inch handset, dummy), but it drops the price and the spec to deliver a more affordable...
Pros:
  • Fine screen
  • good battery life
Cons:
  • Processor's not great
  • only a 3 megapixel camera

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)

With the tablet market so crowded these days, Apple's once commanding position is being eroded by Android tablet manufacturers such as Google, Samsung and Asus. Whilst the iPad is still clearly the biggest seller, the options for those that prefer the Android operating system or perhaps don't have...
Pros:
  • Great quality screen for the price
  • Cheap
  • Highly configurable
  • Great range of apps
  • Easy to use
  • MicroSD support
Cons:
  • Very poor audio
  • Only 3MP rear camera
  • Struggles with some of the more graphically intensive tablet games
  • Google Play store should better identify tablet optimised apps
