Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

With Asus' 32GB Transformer Pad available for £399 complete with quad-core CPU, 8Mp camera and keyboard dock, and the smaller Nexus 7 soon to hit the market for £160, the Galaxy Tab 2 isn't quite cheap enough to make a compelling case for itself. It's not a bad device per se , though.

Nelson Isibor reviews the Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10.1

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 the successor to Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was announced at the Mobile World Congress in February 2012 and was released in May 2012. I have had the wifi-only version of the Tab 2 10.1 for a couple of weeks and I decided to write my experiences with it so far.

Review Samsung 10.1" Galaxy Tab 2 Tablet/MID

The Samsung 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2 is undoubtedly a good tablet . Its components were chosen well and make the Tab 2 a good midrange tablet. We noted a few small issues such as the removed LED flash and the reduced-resolution front-facing camera and found these issues to be tolerable.
Pros:
  • long battery life, fast 3G module, modest weight, decent display, We especially liked the long battery life and the very good 3G module
  • These two factors make Samsung's 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2 what it should be: a mobile device
Cons:
  • poor sound, mean performance, The tablet could use a bit more power
  • We are baffled as to why Samsung chose the relatively slow TI OMAP 4430 and not its own, stronger Exynos

Outstanding... clearly another great product from Samsung. I've done a direct comparison with the iPad2 and essentially the Galaxy holds it's own in every respect. The Galaxy is easy to use, fast and light on the touch.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Review

Is my repeatedly-thrown gauntlet between new iPad and the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 a fair challenge? They feature roughly the same dimensions and both are available in 16GB capacity, with this entry-level (Wi-Fi-only) Apple option coming in at a nice neat $100 above the one and only Samsung choice, so for...
Pros:
  • Gotta love that microSDHC card slot
  • Superior onboard stereo sound
  • That IR emitter that turns this tablet into a super-mega-ultra remote
  • in seconds
  • Rich
  • consumer-friendly Google Ecosystem
Cons:
  • The screen pales beside the latest competition from Apple
  • Slightly sluggish to boot
  • load
  • Wi-Fi only
  • no data/carrier options

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 was released side-by-side with the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, which we reviewed a couple weeks ago. It is the sequel to last year's Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Samsung's primary weapon in...
Pros:
  • Decent overall screen rendering
  • Media player
  • Adequate battery life
  • Smartly placed speakers
  • MicroSD slot
Cons:
  • Déjà-vu from the last Galaxy Tab 10.1
  • Slower OS compared to the 7.0 version
  • Behind the competition in its price range
  • Offers little compared to a Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the ICS update

Would Recommend

Although I have only had my tablet a few days, I am very happy with the product. I bought the 10.1 as a replacement for the Galaxy Tab 7. Definitely a size difference but well worth it. At 60 yrs of age, the larger screen is certainly a plus. Guess I'll have to get a bigger purse!
Pros:
  • Built-in speakers
  • Bright display
  • Durable
  • Realistic color
  • Lightweight
Cons:
  • no sd card slot

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Review – Nothing New, Aside from Design Tweaks and Android 4.0; Good Price, Too! (Video)

And now it's time for the verdict! On the pro side we've got the OS and UI, that are a good combo in this case and finally TouchWiz is not so bothersome as it was on the 2011 Galaxy Tabs. Also, the battery is pretty good, the camera is decent, the speakers are very good and the design is pleasant.
