Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review: iPhone X rival is flawless but pricey

4.0
Pros: Long-lasting battery life, Excellent low-light camera performance, New S Pen improvements
Cons: Very expensive, Little on offer to warrant an upgrade
Verdict: Samsung is bringing the fight to Apple, and the Galaxy Note 9 is a top-tier phablet worthy of recognition

Pros: Great display, The S Pen stylus remains unique, Smooth performance
Cons: Complex UI, can lag after a while, Expected better battery life, Expected better battery life
Verdict: Well before 6-inch displays were mainstream, there was a series of smartphones that made the word phablet trendy. Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note series back in 2011 when smartphones were supposed to be compact and a 4.0-inch display was considered scandalously large – well, the first Galaxy Note...

Samsung Galaxy Note9 review: Still the king of big-screen flagship phones

4.8
Pros: Still a sexy design, Build quality remains strong in the Note series, Samsung's displays are always amazing, Strong performer breezes through everything quickly, S-Pen options are much better this year, Battery life lasts all day and beyond, Speakers are much improved over the Note8, Fingerprint...
Cons: Glass back is a fingerprint graveyard, Pricing is very high, approaching the range some users may pass, Bixby (and its button) is improved but is still not going to be for everyone
Verdict: I am writing this review fully aware that most Galaxy Note9 review articles and videos have been up for weeks. It's been a long almost two months for me as I've transplanted myself and the Techaeris operations from Chicago to Des Moines. So you'll have to forgive this late Galaxy Note9 review.

Pros: Good exposure White balance is almost always right Great Portrait Mode performance Food Mode performs amazingly Vibrant colors
Cons: Bad dynamic range (HDR) Food Mode can make images look warm Over-processing can hurt detail
Verdict: The Samsung Galaxy Note series has a reputation for great design, unparalleled performance, and great cameras. The Note 9's camera is definitely up there, but it's still hard to beat beasts like the Huawei P20 Pro and a couple others. Regardless, an overall 8.5 score is nothing to scoff at.

Verdict: Samsung's Galaxy Note line has had a rocky couple of years with the ill-fated Note7 followed by what could only be considered a brain fade by Samsung with their fingerprint sensor placement in the Note8.

Pros: Good Battery Life, Incredible Camera, Acceptable Performance, Cool S Pen Features, Superb Display, Massive Storage (Expandable to 1TB
Cons: Annoying Bixby Button, Depleting Battery Health, Expensive, Incremental Upgrades
Verdict: The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has a few incremental upgrades that may not be impressive for everyone. Sure, the new S Pen is neat and it has a bigger battery, but will it be enough for anyone to upgrade It performs fairly well aside from a few overheating issues.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review: The Pen gets mightier!

Verdict: While some say that the Galaxy S9 is Samsung's most underrated smartphone, it could be said to an extent. The reason - probably Samsung's inability to offer something exciting and different from its predecessors.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Review: The best big phone around

4.5
Pros: Battery lasts the day, comfortably, Fantastic, huge display with no notch, S Pen remains unique, Samsung's software has a number of handy features
Cons: The overall design of the S9 Plus is better, Bixby button is an annoyance
Verdict: There isn't another phone on the market quite like the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. It's unashamedly huge, seriously expensive, and jams pretty much every high-end feature into a surprisingly svelte package.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Review

5.0
Pros: World-class 6.4-inch OLED display, Leading low-light photography, Excellent battery capacity, Excellent system performance, Up to 1TB of storage
Cons: Battery charging should be faster
Verdict: Although the Galaxy Note 9 features a couple of twists such as the 4000 mAh battery and the BT enabled Pen, it's fair to say that it came out more or less as expected. As the final handset of the Series 9 line, it is evident that it would feature mostly the same strengths with a few extras to make...

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Smartphone Review

Verdict: Samsung once again delivers the business smartphone of the year, nothing less is to be expected. Even the owners of the Note 8 have a lot to gain by switching to the Note 9. However, this does not have a lot to do with the S Pen: The new remote control functionality is neat, but not revolutionary.

Pros: Excellent display, Great camera performance in low-light, 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth-enabled S Pen, Fantastic battery life
Cons: So many features you'll likely never find, Expensive, Bixby button can no longer be redirected, S9+ may suit more casual users

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review

4.5
Pros: Beautiful 6.4-inch Infinity Display, Superb camera, even in low light, Battery and storage last and last, Bluetooth S Pen shortcuts are fun
Cons: Expensive, A lot of small upgrades, No HDR video recording, We hate the Bixby button
Verdict: The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is the best smartphone that money can buy. Unfortunately, it's going to take all of your money to buy it (or at least more than you're likely budgeting for a smartphone purchase this year). The iPhone X drove prices to this level, and we complained then, too.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Review: Epic phone, epic price

4.0
Pros: The best smartphone screen around, Huge amounts of power, memory, and storage, S Pen keeps getting more functional, Cameras are reliable workhorses
Cons: $1,000+ price tag is eye-watering, Samsung's software can be frustrating, Bixby still underwhelms
Verdict: Value is subjective, and little illustrates that quite so well as the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Samsung Galaxy Note 9

4.5
Pros: The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is a big, beautiful phone with top-tier specs including a massive battery and internal storage that starts at 128GB. The new S Pen doubles as a wireless remote for taking long-distance selfies
Cons: It's expensive and offers few real innovations over last year's Note 8. The fingerprint reader is uncomfortably close to the camera
Verdict: I pick up the Galaxy Note 9 ( $1,000 at Amazon.com ) , pop out the S Pen stylus and start to write on the black screen in tart lemon-colored digital ink. It hits me: This phone is more fun to use than your phone.

Pros: Bright, high-res HDR screen, S Pen doubles as remote, Long battery life, Loads of storage, even on the base model, Loud, bassy stereo speakers
Cons: Really expensive, Doesn't ship with Android 9 Pie, Hit-or-miss camera AI features
Verdict: Mashable Choice highlights the best of everything we cover, have experienced first-hand and would recommend to others. Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 is a perfect fit for exactly one type of user: Somebody who wants every smartphone feature under the sun and won't balk at spending $1,000+ to get them.

Cons: Isn't running Android 9 Pie, design hasn't changed much aside from new colors, Bixby button still not reprogrammable

Galaxy Note 9 Review: Great, But Is It Worth $1,000

4.0
Pros: Gorgeous 6.4-inch display, S Pen gets new powers via Bluetooth, AI camera improves photos, Lots of onboard storage, DeX mode works without dock
Cons: Expensive, Bixby still needs work, Water cooling doesn't impress
Verdict: If there's one thing Samsung excels at, it's stunning smartphone screens. The same Super AMOLED panel with quad-HD resolution that you find in the Note 8 and Galaxy S9 is what you get with the Note 9, but then again, it's pretty hard to improve upon perfection.

Samsung Galaxy Note9 Hands On With A Stylus-Hater
