Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 review

In a world where it takes something special to stand out, Samsung has the S-Pen to wave at its competitors and under the noses of prospective 7-inch-ish tablet owners weighing up whether they should go for the iPad Mini, Google Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD and now the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.
Pros:
  • Multi-Window
  • Speedy browsing
  • S-Pen
Cons:
  • Uninspiring design
  • Samsung software
  • Battery life

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 review

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is a decent tablet, but it's unlikely to win over buyers with its plasticky build and expensive price tag.
Pros:
  • Samsung's S Pen is good
  • great performance
  • plenty of storage
  • multitasking features are well executed
Cons:
  • Poor design
  • lacklustre screen
  • phone addition is pointless on such a large device

Review Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Tablet

Bridging the gap. The Galaxy Note 8.0 with its powerful hardware and S Pen is designed to seamlessly integrate into Samsung's Galaxy portfolio and fill the gap between 5.5-inch and 10.1-inch devices. Can Samsung continue their success with this new member and potentially outsell the iPad Mini?
Pros:
  • Fast SoC, Very bright display, Lots of RAM, Price, Phone functionality, The tabphone feels good to the touch and lies comfortably in the hand
  • The price of around 460 Euro (~$595) seems justified for the features offered, and especially since Galaxy Notes are usually a lot more expensive right after...
Cons:
  • No FullHD display
  • Contrast too low and black value too high
  • Battery life not that satisfying
  • Power adapter gets warm under load

Pros:
  • S Pen
  • Great size for one-handed use
  • Bright, colourful screen
  • Powerful multi-tasking
Cons:
  • Display not as sharp as some rivals
  • Average media battery life
