Samsung ATIV Odyssey Review

Samsung isn't going whole hog with their Windows Phone 8 investment, preferring to dip a toe into the less expensive end of the pool to test the waters. The ATIV Odyssey only costs $50 on contract with Verizon Wireless and is in direct competition with the Nokia Lumia 822.
Pros:
  • Light
  • comfortable design
  • Bright and crisp display
  • Speedy performance
  • Hardware shutter button for camera
Cons:
  • Low resolution display
  • Uninspiring camera
  • App store still lacks good selection

Samsung Ativ S review

If I asked you to name a manufacturer of Windows Phone-based handsets it is very likely that you'd come up with Nokia. The company has plenty of models available, and it has worked hard in its partnership with Microsoft to offer some good software add-ons that help its brand stand out.
Pros:
  • Huge screen
  • Nice physical design
  • Good battery life
  • Nice camera
Cons:
  • No 4G
  • Lacklustre add-on apps

The Samsung Ativ S is the thinking man's Windows Phone. Nokia's mammoth marketing campaign for its Lumia 920 gave the impression that it was the sole Windows 8 Phone handset to own.

Great phone. Too bad it's got Windows 8.

Everyone on the boards says that Windows 7 was great. Windows 8?? Eh! The thing I dislike the MOST about the Odyssey is that it's almost impossible to manage the memory. I have an 8 gb SD card. I can tell the phone to put new pictures and sounds on the card. Everything else is cemented in place.
Pros:
  • Built-in speakers
  • Bright display
  • Realistic color
  • Lightweight
Cons:
  • see above

Great phone but the OS has many, many bugs

The phone in it's spec. is great but the OS has severe flaws: constant reboots, phone turning off by itsellf, answer button not working some time. Switched to this phone model from Lumia where the issues are more agressive but it seems that some of them are present in this phone too.

Good design and grip!

Its good..I liked the shape., good color, just as shown in the pic. Only thing i didn't like it that it got stained easily..and now offwhite. I wonder if the stains are removable.

Big Bang for the Buck

In today's cell phone market finding the right phone is difficult. IPHONES are great but expensive to own. The windows phone is a great alternative and has a lot more apps to chose from. A good choice over the IPHONE.

Samsung Ativ S Review: In Depth

Whilst Samsung's rivals have split elements like removable storage and a removable battery between their flagship and secondary Windows Phone 8 devices, Samsung launched its WP8 story with one device aiming to do it all.
Pros:
  • Hardware shutter key
  • Fantastic battery life
  • Removable storage
Cons:
  • Bland design
  • All-plastic construction
  • Windows Phone still lacks depth

My ideal WP8 smartphone - Samsung Ativ S

Having used Windows Mobile in both its '5' and '6' forms, and gone through Orange SPV200, O2 EXEC and HTC Touch HD, I spent 2 years in the world of Android (Galaxy SII), and in so doing missed WP7 all together.
Pros:
  • Expandable memory
  • swappable battery
  • great battery life
Cons:
  • A bug that leads to a (very) occasional restart

Samsung Ativ S

If you're convinced that Windows Phone is the right mobile OS for your next smartphone, then the Samsung Ativ S is worth considering. It's one of many such phones running Windows Phone by default, and if the reviews of it online are to be believed, then it's among the best money can buy.
Pros:
  • High-quality HD touchscreen display
  • Long-lasting battery
  • Snappy overall performance
  • Simple
  • easy-to-use interface
Cons:
  • Seemingly lackluster design
  • Smaller app selection compared with other mobile platforms
