Samsung is at the ready with a brand new family of mainstream solid state drives, targeting the market segment previously occupied by its popular SSD 840 EVO series. The new Samsung SSD 850 EVO series is the follow-up to the company's current flagship SSD 850 PRO , but the new EVO is Samsung's first...

Samsung 850 EVO SSD review

There are only a few names in the industry that build exceptional SSDs that are affordable and very reliable these days, Toshiba, Plextor, OCZ, Micron, the latest Corsair SSDs and then there is Samsung.

Samsung 850 EVO SSD Review (1TB) – Differing Series Controllers Compared

Throughout testing, the 1TB Samsung 850 EVO has proven to be quite the performer. Utilizing the same controller as the 850 Pro and 840 EVO, we were able to see great speeds in our synthetic tests. Reads and writes both pushing past 500MB/s.

Faster, significantly increased longevity and at the same time lower production costs. These three seemingly contradicting aspects are what Samsung are said to have succeeded with 3D V-NAND.

TurboWrite cache accelerates esp; smaller models, Supports Microsoft eDrive (encryption, Very good everyday performance, Five-year warranty

Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB Review

Once again, Samsung delivers a great product, taking the lead in the SSD space with its advanced technology. 3D V-NAND is really a game changer. The 3rd TCL generation offers pretty much everything the consumer would want to see from an SSD, performance, high endurance, encryption, low power...

Samsung 850 Evo mSATA M.2 Review

Since entering the SSD market Samsung have created some very impressive drives. In the early drives, when other manufacturers were struggling for reliability, they were seen as being industry leading on that front.

6-month review.

If you're on the fence about an SSD, pull the trigger and buy this drive. Worried about the 150TB lifecycle of writes I was. Let me put your mind at ease: I reloaded my entire OS (Windows 10), reloaded X-Plane, a ton of orthographic scenery, and all my daily-driver programs.

This drive is everything you have heard

None; Well, maybe that its price-point seems to have stalled I bought it at a great price, and this product's price is pretty stable

Lasted exactly 3 years

I purchased this drive in December 2015 and installed it in a lightly used desktop computer. It worked well and was very fast compared to the drive it replaced. December 2018 and the drive went completely non-responsive and Windows and Linux drive diagnostic software cannot bring it back.

Expensive as all get out but worth it if you need it.

HDDs are heavy and require a lot of room. I used to run two 2TB and one 4TB HDDs in my desktop machine for data drives and had a set of four more backup HDDs for each data drive in my computer: two in each set were kept onsite (aka home) and the other two in the set were kept offsite in my safe...

High capacity; inceased speed; lower weight; smaller size; lower power consumption; runs cooler than HDDs; dead quiet; five year warranty

Price is higher than a kite

Fast but no cable in the box

Great, fast SSD and apart from one issue easy to install. Beware that this does not come with a USB/SATA cable and that putting it in some enclosures for the cloning step will not work.
