Works for Win 7 where others failed

I'm a ham radio operator and had an issue with my previous serial card when I upgraded from XP to a Win 7 machine. Too long a story for here, but to summarize, Win 7 seems to hold certain lines high on the COM port by default where Win XP didn't.

DOA

Received quickly; packaging adequate. Would not operate in any slot on HP p7-1234. Caused boot-up to freeze. Obviously no card recognition by Windows 7. Another StarTech card (USB3.0) was used with no problem. Didn't matter if this card was first or second to be installed, same result.

Everything works great!

I kept this thing because I tried a different PCI Serial card and Vista would not recognize it, couldn't find a driver to make it work but this one does! Oh, and Newegg is awesome!

Works great! I currently use DOSBox to run some old engraving machines on Vista Home Premium; I was able to set the port and ditch the old 286 it used to run on

It fits into the normal PCI slot but only comes with the extremely small metal plate to cover the back of the computer; Still haven't figured out what I'm going to do to securely close it, just have it carefully pluged in and hope it doesn't wobble loose while engraving

Viable solution for non-USB serial

Used three cards in low profile case for six additional RS-232 db9 ports to support several legacy serial peripherals without introducing USB-to-serial adapter eccentricities. Cards came up immediately in Windows XP envionment in multiple port rates and settings needed.

Good Value; High Quality; Low profile card

Great item

I have bought two of these cards so I can connect 3 amatuer radios to my PC's to give me control via Ham Radio Deluxe. Very simple to set up and use
