Ricoh CX5
Ricoh continues to add incremental updates to its CX camera series, which seems to get an update every 6 months. The CX5 is the latest in the series, and is almost identical in body shape, button layout and configuration to the CX4 .
Pros:
- Quick, effective AF
- Excellent macro performance
- Eye-Fi compatibility
- Now has HDMI out
Cons:
- No RAW
- No manual controls
- ISO performance over 200 needs work
- Design flaws mean the camera slips out of hand easily

The (discontinued) Ricoh cameras CX3 to CX6 are almost identical, with a fabulous macro for a compact. Ricoh CX5 Digital Camera
A company perhaps better known for photocopiers and large printers but they have produced digitalcameras for a while. However this is the first of their units to have come my way, but all decent recent units have similar features.

Ricoh CX5
UPDATE 07/07/2011: In line with our new, tighter test criteria, the CX5 is now a three-star camera rather than a four-star camera. This is due to its inconsistent lens quality and limited video mode.
Pros:
- Pleasant
- customisable interface
- High-quality metal body
- Instant shutter release modes
- Clear
- high-def LCD
Cons:
- Inconsistent lens performance
- Other models handle low light better
- Noisy zoom and focusing
- No optical zoom in video mode and low-quality sound recorded

Ricoh CX5 review
Like Ricoh's mid-level compact R series before it, the CX series maintains a steady and regular release interval. Since the beginning of 2004, Ricoh has announced a new model roughly once every six months, with the first CX released at the beginning of 2009.
