2011 Retrospective: Red Faction Armageddon

Hands up: who thought Halo's Flood levels were a good idea? Just the tentacle at the back?

Red Faction: Armageddon: review

Red Faction: Armageddon is a dumb, stupid game. Not in the way Gears of War is either. That game is intelligently stupid, wearing its absurd machismo proudly. The problem with Red Faction is the same problem with most games of this kind – it aspires to be something it tragically isn't.

Review: Red Faction Armageddon – ‘Path To War' DLC

While I do have both Red Faction and its sequel sitting on my shelf, I never got around to playing through them. Guerrilla (2009) was my first proper entry into the series and for the most part what I found was very enjoyable.

Red Faction: Armageddon – review

Destruction and creation are popular themes within gaming – occasionally intertwined to the extent that they are difficult to separate – with some offering creativity and destruction at the same time, presenting an often intriguing dilemma.

Not bad, but no you'll forget it in a month.

RF Guerrilla was brilliant. RF Armageddon, is different in that the GTA free roaming is gone, its now a third person shooter. There are a lot of good 3P shooters around, this is ok, its solid, but I just felt there was nothing new, and after R.E.G, it was a bit of a letdown.

Red Faction: Armageddon Review

Confronted with a monster twice my size, I shoot it quickly with the first bolt of the magnet gun then, aiming casually at the ceiling of the cavern, I shoot in the second bolt. The monster is suddenly pulled from its feet and smashed against the ceiling before plummeting to the ground with a thud.

Red Faction: Armageddon review

Armageddon is the fourth instalment in the Red Faction series, and once again follows the tried-and-true formula of destructible environments and alien intrigue.

Fun, satisfying gory third-person shooter; Some excellent weapons; Graphics are really quite pretty

Storyline is a little lacklustre; things are linear and repetitive

"Great Sequel to Red Faction II"

Awesome setup in the game, you can upgrade your stats and even add defensive or offensive attributes to your lineup, once you unlock a weapon, you can store it, or add it your loadout when ever you come across a weapons station
