Razer Viper 8K Review

An unmatched combo of 20,000 DPI sensor and 8000Hz polling rate mean that you'll be hard-pressed to find a more complete esports package than the Viper 8K. In addition, that 71g weight makes it ideal for competitive gaming, although the ability to customise it physically gives Razer the edge over the competition.

Nimble and agile with 20,000 DPI sensor; 8000Hz polling makes a difference; Truly ambidextrous;

No physical customisation options; Only one lighting zone;

8K meme?

I bought this mouse to provoke my friends who think 1K polling is the limit. Well turns out this thing really does poll at 8K, latency is improved at higher refresh rates, surprisingly even at 60hz it feels slightly more accurate & that is with enhanced pointer precision turned off at 3440x1440. There is about 2-4% more CPU usage, Side mouse buttons are slightly back so you actually have to reach to press them unlike the basilisk & MMO mice where you accidental hit them often. You can only use it as a left Or right handed mouse (currently) so you wont accidentally press the palm side buttons.The Optical switches are a dream have the right...view more

Does what it says on the tin

TLDR: Better than my old G302, not as good (to my taste) as the Viper Mini. I bought a couple of Viper Minis for other people and they love them, as did I when I tried them--to make sure they worked, of course. ;-) I thought I'd take a punt on this new 8K model, despite it being heavier and larger than the Mini. 0.125 milliseconds of latency vs 1 millisecond? What's not to like? Well, it depends. Looks, setup: Overall shape is comfortable. The default RGB illumination is not too offensive. It's a bit of a pain having the sensitivity (DPI) button on the bottom, but it does eliminate accidental presses of it. I'm not installing 300 MB...view more

Software fail :(

Like most high tech hardware manufacturers, Razer pretty much require you to install their software to get the most out of this - and unfortunately there is a common fatal problem with that software. You can find fixes for it on Razer's web page, but they did not help me. When the mouse worked it was fine - but that was only for a day or 2 before i'd had enough of it due to uncommanded PC shutdowns and failure to actually work at all. Kudos to PBT for a prompt refund - but seriously cannot recommend anything from Razer until they sort their **** out! :/

Upgrade after the Deathadder Elite

I have been using the Deathadder Elite for 5 years, and I think it is time for an upgrade during Black Friday! It is a lot featherweight than the Deathadder elite, and I really recommend this one to the hardcore fps players despite some games do not support the 8000Hz polling rate.

8K polling works but..

Although it is noticeable on my 144hz screen I find the difference negligible, and also it’s hard to go back to a wired mouse after gaming on a wireless DeathAdder V2 Pro. The tapered shape of the sides is really nice and makes the mouse feel really accurate. Overall, I like it but I find myself just gravitating back to the DAv2 Pro.

Greatly improved my game

I upgraded from using my business mouse Logitech MX Master 2S playing FPS to the Razer Viper. I noticed an immediate improvement in my game. The mouse is very lightweight and glides very smoothly over the mousepad--two factors that were limiting me with my old mouse. I was honestly expecting to pay more for a gaming mouse, so I was happy about the price. I decided on the Razer Viper 8Khz due to its very high reviews. So far I'm very happy with my purchase.
