Puyo Puyo Tetris (Nintendo Switch) Review

The wait was worth it for this puzzle mashup, as Puyo Puyo Tetris embodies everything great about its namesakes, and compliments the host hardware perfectly. Concerns arise about the lack of Japanese voice work as an option, but as an overall package of content and pure replayability there are few...

Puyo Puyo Tetris (Switch)

While I'm no expert at Tetris, I certainly do enjoy playing it. The iconic theme music isn't anywhere to be found in this title though. When playing Hatsune Miku on the 3DS, I was introduced to Puyo Puyo, which is similar to Dr.

Great mashup of two classic games; lots of fun game modes and challenging AI and people to play against

Physical version costs an extra $10

Puyo Puyo Tetris

What happens when you combine Puyo Puyo with Tetris The answer is Puyo Puyo Tetris which allows up to four players to compete in some truly crazy party game antics. Sure, these two franchises have been around the block (even on other formats) but combining these two series on the new Nintendo...

As a party game, Puyo Puyo Tetris provides an excellent use for Switch's detachable controllers. Propping a Switch up with its stand and passing a Joy-Con to a buddy is fun, and with so many modes to choose from you'll likely be playing for a long time.

Puyo Puyo Tetris (for Nintendo Switch)

If you have a Nintendo Switch and have ever enjoyed Tetris, or Dr. Mario, or Puzzle Fighter, or any other puzzle game of the same breed, you need to get Puyo Puyo Tetris. It's Puyo Puyo, it's Tetris, it's both, and it has a lot of different ways to enjoy all three of those things.

Loads of game modes; Classic Tetris and novel (for North America) Puyo Puyo gameplay; Extensive Adventure mode

Adventure mode story builds on lore from games only released in Japan

Puyo Puyo Tetris review – puzzling crossover

The crossover between the two classic puzzlers is a bit of a gimmick, but the huge range of modes for both games makes this the best version of either for years.

Great versions of two timeless puzzle games; Huge range of single and multiplayer modes, including new options and all the old classics; Simple, attractive presentation and robust online

The Switch version is unfairly expensive; Fusion mode is not particularly fun, and the least entertaining aspect of the package

Switch Review - 'Puyo Puyo Tetris'

Buy Puyo Puyo Tetris Tetris needs almost no introduction. The puzzle game has endured for decades and single-handedly made the Nintendo Game Boy a success. Another classic puzzle game, Puyo Puyo , is a much bigger deal in Japan, but emulation and handheld releases have also given it a cult following...

Game Review: Puyo Puyo Tetris

Tetris is one of the most popular puzzle games in the world. It probably doesn't need much of an introduction, but I'll give it one anyway. You match up different descending shapes to fill a line. In filling up a line you cause it to disappear.

Lots to do; Great multiplayer; Lovely style

Online population isn't great on PlayStation 4; Adventure mode story isn't the most captivating; Not as fun in single player

Puyo Puyo Tetris Review - When Old is New (and Exciting) Again

Puyo Puyo Tetris combines two of the most popular puzzle games in a whole new dimension. Released in early May for both the Nintendo Switch and PS4, this game mashes together the cult classic Tetris and introduces Western gamers to the popular Puyo Puyo franchise.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is supported by the weight of its juggernaut puzzle franchises. A game with both Puyo Puyo and Tetris in one package would have been acceptable, but the modes that uniquely integrate the two transform this from good to stellar.
