Portal Knights (Switch eShop)

When Portal Knights was first announced, my first reaction was something along the lines of it being another Minecraft wanna-be. However, after exploring the worlds and defeating hordes of monsters and more, Portal Knights offers up something more.

Portal Knights

Portal Knights may be reminiscent of a certain international hit called Minecraft however it has enough differences, particularly with its RPG elements to create an addictive and thoroughly enjoyable experience on the Nintendo Switch.

Great co-op game.

Great Minecraftian fun. The RPG aspect is a nice touch, but I wish there was more diversity to it. And it does get pretty repetitive after a dozen hours or two. My biggest gripe (and hence the 4 stars) is that (on the Switch, at least) I absolutely dread traveling because it takes so long.

Review: Portal Knights

Let's tackle the Creeper in the room - Yes, this is clearly a Minecraft inspired adventure with nicer graphics which is something that has been done endlessly for years now - But does Portal Knights offer enough unique differences to make it a worthy alternative

Beautiful graphics; Lots to see and do; Play to your own style

Minor slow-down in handheld; Minor draw-distance problems; Crafting can be a bit overwhelming at first

It's easy to instantly compare any sandbox-type game with crafting, combat and building elements to Minecraft ; many games have tried – to varying degrees of success – to re-create what Mojang's mammoth franchise has done so well over the last few years.

If they like mine craft, they will love this

Bought for my kids age 7 and 9. They love it - it's like mine craft with action and a story. At first I thought it was a bit too much about bashing things, but actually the collecting items and discovery of worlds is really engaging and they are really involved. Great game.

Bought as a gift

"I bought this as a gift for Christmas looking forward to seeing it. Looks like a cross between zelda and Minecraft however I could be very wrong lol. "

Portal Knights (Nintendo Switch) Review

Unlike most Minecraft clones, Portal Knights delivers an experience wholly its own and for the most part it succeeds. Playing through the main story is a highly enjoyable experience and for those who are looking for a new sandbox to build in.
