Polk Audio MagniFi Mini Review

Offering massive sound in a tiny package, Polk Audio's Magnifi Mini is one of the most affordable and intuitive sound solutions in the soundbar genre, and one well worth considering for those looking to improve their TV's sound without even nudging the furniture.

Powerful punch in a small package; Expansive soundstage for the size; Brilliant blend between bar and sub; Warm and detailed midrange; Intuitive and concise design

Treble occasionally sounds strident and distorted; Only one HDMI input; 5.1 surround is more like 3.1

Polk MagniFi Mini Soundbar System Review

Why is it that every year, TVs seem to get bigger while speakers seem to get smaller Back when Stereo Review became Sound & Vision, a nice home theater had a 34-inch tube TV and a decent 5.1channel surround sound system with floorstanding tower speakers.

Big sound from a tiny speaker; Carefully voiced with neutral tonal balance

No HDMI video passthrough; Sub's performance limited by its small size

Perhaps that's why Polk's MagniFi Mini soundbar might catch your eye as you peruse the many soundbar options available for $200 to $300. It doesn't really look like soundbar at all. To my eye, the MagniFi Mini looks more like a Bluetooth speaker--and technically, it is a Bluetooth speaker.

Polk Audio Mini

This Polk Audio mini delivers great bass and crisp sound! Having the three different settings is a huge plus that can be chosen via the remote. It also allows you to customize the volume as a whole, with complete control over how much bass you would like to add or reduce, and the same with the voice...

Easy set up

None for my expectations

Cant turn off wifi or switch to BT with remote.

No complaints about the sound. The unit is very clear with balanced lows miss and highs. The biggest thing that bugged the hell out of me was the fact that in order to switch over to the Bluetooth function, you had to do it from the top of the sound bar. The remote has NO BLUETOOTH BUTTON! WTF Polk

Good for the price

I received this through an open-box discount, so the pricing made it hard to pass up. It has a low profile and no obnoxious flashing lights or logos, which makes it discreet. I am an audio enthusiast, so I rate the sound quality as average.

Attractive Design; Compact; Easy To Set Up

Average sound quality

Polk MagniFi Mini review

A small soundbar that needs a bit of refining before it can be a big fish in this particularly crowded pond

Good agility; Big bass; Spacious sound

Could be more insightful; Boxy midrange

Polk MagniFi Mini Review

Once the bastion of space-saving home cinema, it seems that even the trusty soundbar has become too imposing for some living rooms. As a result, there's a growing demand for compact soundbars that deliver room-filling audio from even smaller boxes.

Compact design; Big room-filing sound; Generous features; Easy to set up and use

Muddy mid-range and unrefined treble; Bass could be tighter; Voice Adjust doesn't suit music playback

Polk MagniFi Mini Home Theater Sound Bar System Review

We had the chance to listen to the Polk MagniFi Mini at the CEDIA show in Dallas, Texas last September and were impressed by the volume coming out of a speaker no bigger than a clock radio.

Super Compact size; Reasonable price; Extremely easy setup; Sound clarity at lower volumes

Loss of clarity at higher volumes; Mid and bass performance could use more punch

Polk MagniFi Mini

If the prospect of a traditional home-theater setup with a half-dozen speakers and a bulky receiver doesn't thrill you, you may want to a consider a sound bar . These small speakers are discreet, easy to set up, and sound much better than your TV's speakers.

The affordable Polk MagniFi Mini is capable of a much bigger sound than its minuscule size suggests; The package is compact and will fit easily into most living room setups; The ability to Cast directly from your phone simplifies music streaming

The Wi-Fi connection on my test unit was unreliable; and the ARC-only HDMI input limits connectivity somewhat
