These headphones have Dolby 7.1 surround sound
The Gamecom 780 is the latest gaming headset from Plantronics featuring a retro design and Dolby Digital virtual 7.1 surround sound.
Pros:
- Great sound for movies and games
- Bargain price
Cons:
- Plastic finish
- No surround sound for Mac

this will be short and quick. the price was excellent. these work great and love it that you can change from 5.1 to 7.1 and back. easy to setup and get working. here comes the but...... they are not comfortable on the ears. I think I have larger ears so they don't fit very good.

Do not buy
The microphone is a mixed bag on this one. Its extremely clear and sounds great, however it picks up every single noise in the room. When I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. I can hear my PC fans (which are NOT loud at ALL) as well as keyboard clacking, mouse clicks, everything.
Pros:
- Great headset, sounds are crisp and clear and 7.1 is awesome
- Well built, decent quality for the price
Cons:
- These have the same freq
- response and LESS bass than my creative fatality headset that is >5 years old

Plantronics has a long proud history that started with a couple of airline pilots coming up with a lightweight headset for the airlines. Shortly after, they were contracted to build headsets for NASA as well.
Pros:
- The Plantronics GameCom 780 is comfortable to wear for extended gaming sessions
Cons:
- The ear cups are bigger than necessary

Great headset, but read this if using Windows 8
This is a great headset but, if you're planning to use these headphones on Windows 8, the driver probably won't work right out of the box. It's easy enough to get working but you'll need an extra minute or two. Just follow these steps: 1) Download the driver from the Plantronics website.

Good quality, good craftsmanship
I first bought SteelSeries H5 V2s to replace my ancient Plantronics that lasted me 6 years. Complete crap. No base, terrible quality, bad mic. Then I looked at going back to the brand that served me so well, and I don't regret it.

The sound quality is fantastic and the mic is very clear. Before, I had Turtle Beaches and the sound couldn't go very loud at all, but these are much louder. No regrets.
